Default Check Engine Light - P0456 Small Evap Leak

I recently got a CEL on my 2011 CTT with 100k miles. I reset the computer, but the CEL came back. I found very little information searching google - so I will post my "fix" here for the archives.

My issue seems to have been solved by replacing the gas cap. My dealer service guy said to use the OE part as some of the aftermarket parts don't vent properly (threads aren't deep enough). I purchased a new cap ($40), replaced it, and the CEL has not returned.

The emissions computers only check for Evap leaks once per day under certain conditions. But it has been fine for several days.

Easy fix!

Great to hear. Coincidentally I just bought my 11 PTT and immediately went for inspection. Inspection all OK except for - you guessed it - gas cap. They said they did pressure test and gas cap not working properly.
I went home and pulled codes via Durametric. AND - on the way got check engine light. Little freaking out, pulled out the durametric, and saw the same code - P0456 - Small EVAP Leak.
Looking in detail, found it can be traced to bad gas cap. Have one on order that just arrived today. Will replace tomorrow am. Cleared out codes which did not return. Will find out soon if that is the fix.
Thanks. Will update asap.

If you want to splurge a little, this OEM gas cap from Porsche’s Tequipment is really nice... https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/SKU95XGC.html
