Default V8 Turbo vs v6 turbo

looking for opinions from anybody who has experience with both Ceyennes. I am shopping the v8 turbo vs v6 (GTS or Turbo) model.

I am aware of fuel consumption diff but wondered how is the DRIVE and RELIABILITY/Maintenance compare.

I had a 957 GTS (non-turbo V8) a few years back and tried out some other vehicles before recently coming back to a Cayenne Turbo. I was originally shopping for a 2016+ GTS with the V6 turbo, but after driving a few different examples, I felt it was lacking something engine wise. The turbo does have some more lag as compared to the hot-vee designs of Mercedes and Bmw; My understanding is the newest Cayenne turbo has switched to this design as well. The most notable thing about driving the turbo is it's ability to be quite comfortable and docile, but also have a hooligan side when the spot plus button is pressed. The GTS has similar properties, but I did not find the difference as dramatic. The underpinnings of the models are largely the same, so my expectation is that maintenance, while under warranty should be nearly identical.

I don't know if this answers your question. Is your question primarily about cost of ownership?

I don't know if this answers your question. Is your question primarily about cost of ownership?
This is just a big problem in terms of long term reliability. There are no materials to reliability accommodate this design today. No way would I own a car out of warranty with this motor. Had a BMW 550 with this and couldn't wait to get out of that motor fast enough. The heat produced by that motor was just crazy..

I will be in the market for something out of warranty. Just want to avoid any catastrophic things. I have read about the “cam bolts” and those are the things that always seem to come with a European car. So I am wondering between v8 turbo vs v6 turbo. Has the v6 turbo shown any personality flaws that usually come with these cars.

Like the v8 m3 chews through rod bearings but so far the turbo 6 m3 is doing well.
