2014 Cayenne 3.0 TDI oil change & Fumoto oil valve
I did an oil and oil filter change today and also installed a Fumoto F106SX M14-1.5 SX Series Drain Valve. This valve will eliminate having to remove the oil drain plug and replace the crush washer when doing an oil change. You still have to remove the undercarriage trays to access the oil valve and drain the oil. Because I have air suspension on my Cayenne, I can now raise the vehicle to the high level, place jacks under the vehicle for safety, remove the undercarriage trays and drain the oil without driving the front wheels on ramps.
The older version of the Fumoto oil valve would not work on the 3.0 TDI engine because of the engine cross member being in the way of installing the valve. The SX version of the valve does not have this issue. The cost of the valve is about $40.00 on Amazon.. Some folks will tell you the Fumoto valve still leaves a small amount of oil in the oil pan because the top of the valve is inside the engine oil pan. This may accurate, but previous to this, I was driving the front of my vehicle on ramps to drain the oil and I probably did not get a complete drain because the vehicle was not level when draining.
If you don’t have air suspension, you will still have to drive your vehicle on ramps or use a lift to drain your oil with the Fumoto. The oil valve will eliminate the need to reinstall the oil drain plug, new crush washer and possibly strip the oil pan if you over torque it. I also have a Fumoto oil valve on my Tacoma 4WD, but that truck is high enough to get underneath and drain the oil without any ramps. This valve makes oil changes a lot faster for those of you who like to change your own oil.

Just changed the oil in my parents diesel. We decided to buy an oil extractor for next time. With the filter mounted up top we shouldn't need to raise the car at all or remove the belly pan.

I have an oil extractor and it works great on my boat outboard, ATV, generator, snow blower, etc. It would not work on my Toyota Tacoma and would only extract about 1/2 the oil because the oil baffle prevents the tube from getting to the bottom of the oil pan. Others have complained about the same issue on the Cayenne and Touareg TDI engine. If you can extract all 7.3 liters of oil using the extractor, that would be my preferred method because you do not have to remove the oil drain plug or undercarriage covers.

Having not yet been under my CD, the hose kit with the elbow ( http://a.co/dnrFMo3 ) isn't needed for this because the drain points straight down, right?

I did not buy the hose and I have my valve pointed toward the rear of the vehicle. The advantage the hose gives you is the ability to drain the oil directly into the oil container on the floor. I put the oil container on the floor directly under the oil valve and did not get any oil on the floor or engine cross member when I turned the lever to drain the oil. If you use a really small oil container, you might want the hose to direct the oil into the container. The oil container I use is large enough to prevent the flow of oil from getting on the floor.

Sounds good, thanks. I guess the design of the Fumoto helps control that gush of oil you normally get when pulling the drain plug.

It is a more controlled drain and you can turn the valve lever on without getting oil all over your hand. It does take longer to drain the oil and you can replace the oil filter while the oil drains. Prior to using the Fumoto, I use to get oil all over the place because it starts gushing out before you can even get the oil drain plug all the way out. That's probably why most folks just pay the dealer to change the oil. It is more convenient and cheaper to do it myself without driving (42) miles and leaving my vehicle at a Porsche Dealer all day for an oil change.

Thanks for the post on this! I had purchased the older version of the Fumoto valve two years ago, before I ever got under the vehicle, and when I finally went to change the oil I realized it would't screw in because of that cross-member.. So I just set it aside and had planned to put it on eBay.. But, after reading this post, I gave the company a call and explained the situation, and they are sending me the new valve, with a return label to send back the old one. My garage floor will definitely thank me..

dollar- I think you will be happy with the new valve. One advantage to the valve is using the plastic hose to drain the oil from the valve directly into your oil container. Prior to using the valve, I would normally take off both undercarriage trays because I did not want to get oil on the rear tray when draining. With the fumoto, you only have to take the front tray off because you can direct the oil into the container with the hose and not get any spillage on the rear tray. Not removing the rear tray saves you some time.

Yeah, me too.. I have yet to change the oil in the CD without making a mess, and the oil is so damn dirty... And I didn't even think about fewer panels to take off, that will be nice. The worst part will be waiting until it's time to change the oil again!

I have a jabsco oil change pump, really the way to go, takes longer to pour the new oil in, than to pump and change filter, 15 minute job. I also bought an audi dipstick and drilled a hole in engine cover, I guess I'm old school, nice to check oil quickly..

I'll be changing the oil in my CD in about 1500 miles and installed the SX model valve last time - I'm really looking forward to a mess-free oil change! (I did buy the 90 degree elbow as well so the oil drains straight down)

Eskimo1, what 90 degree fitting did you get, it takes the place of the hose kit? Its permenantly installed with the Fumoto valve? Does it hang really far down? I need to do an oil change on my CD shortly, may as well install the Fumoto valve at the same time.
