Default To PASM or NOT

I am going to buy a new Cayenne most likely the 2019 version coming out this summer/fall. I am thinking about adding PASM to a base Cayenne (it is now standard on the S). I am a little paranoid about not having it. I had a base 997.2 Carrera without it and it beat my behind to death and I sold it. My 991.1 Carrera has PASM and it has a very comfortable ride. Obviously, the steel springs on a base Carrera are set firmer than on a base Cayenne. PASM on a base Cayenne is a $2000 option, so the quick answer is just add it - it's an expensive car anyway. However, I would like your opinion as to whether PASM is a "needed" option on the base Cayenne. I don't need the air suspension. TIA

I custom ordered a 2013 Cayenne Diesel new in August 2012. The 21' wheel options caught my eye, I ended up spec'ing the 20" RS Spyder rims. SA recommended the PASM for 20" and larger rims, which I got. I did not get air suspension, due to previous issues with air bags constantly going on '09 MB GL 320.
I like having the option of manipulating the ride quality. Cf. base steel suspension and no PASM I've had in cayenne loaners, ride quality is probably a bit improved.
Claim to fame of '19 Cayennes from reviews I've gathered is improved refinement, including ride quality. Depending on your time frame, you may want seat time to see if base non PASM setup could suffice. Also, I've caught that for design reasons, wheel sizes are all at least 19". Alternatively, as you point out at 2k, it is not a super expensive option. Mine has been robust, no issues 5 1/2 years later.
Improved ride quality may be a reason, amongst others, to upgrade to the redesigned '19. My wife does complain about the firmness of our CD and noise (wish I would haven taken my SA's advice and gotten the thermal and noise insulated glass!)

Thank you tmack2012. Standard 2019 Cayenne wheels are 19". Since the 2019 Cayenne S has PASM as standard and the base Cayenne does not, I will be able to compare the two.

When you spend this much money it's kinda foolish to skip on features like this.

Plus, having it will make it more attractive upon resale or trade-in time!
