Default what is this message ??

sometimes when i start my 2013 cayenne turbo i get this message in the multi- function display - "battery protection was active during parking " i can't find anything in my manual to explain it. hoping someone on the forum might know. thanks, dan

I believe it means the car thinks the battery is low and is shedding load. Even when the car is "off" cooling fans can run. You might get your battery checked. Good luck.

the car was trying to do something that the battery could not support so it stopped the operation.... agree with r553 the battery needs to be checked-out and soon....

thanks r553 , will get it checked out. still wonder if my owners manual details the message somewhere ?

thanks mike, i leave my i pod plugged into the usb port when car is parked, overnight etc. , might this be the problem ? dan

It helps if you include year/model when you post.

Batteries are wear items. If you get five years out of one you're ahead of the game. Batteries are also sensitive to being drained too low. Running a battery dead greatly reduce it's lifespan. Thus the reason Porsche is telling you it had to do something because the battery voltage was going too low.

I don't know in which model year it started, but my '17 automatically cuts power to the accessory outlets in the console after about 30 minutes. So leaving something plugged into them wouldn't pose an extended drain problem. I believe the accessory outlet in the cargo area stays powered, however.
