Default Cayenne 958 multifunction steering wheel to carbon fibre retrofit

Hi All,

I will purchase a cayenne in the next few months. i have my eye on one and will go to view it this weekend.
However i really like the carbon fibre multifunction steering wheel.
I wont be buying a vehicle without the MF steering wheel but find only a few with a carbon fibre one
so i'm wondering how easy the swap is?
Can i do this on my own or do i need to get a specialist to fit the steering wheel?
I am based in the Midlands U.K So any recommendations would be great.

I understand that it has an airbag and if this is what i could do, i'm not an expert but have done some things to cars
simply by getting info on forums.

If anyone has done this then your help in this would be appreciated.

thanks people.

I don't know the details related to the swap, but if you purchase an OEM Porsche carbon fiber exact replacement for your leather one (where all components/functions match...heating option, etc.), the replacement process is not complicated. There are good deals to be found on OEM Porsche steering wheels of all types if you keep your eyes open and actively search. Also sometimes dealers like Suncoast Porsche (FLA, USA) have great sales. Good luck.

How do you want to marry the new steering wheel with the old buttons and paddles ?

The old (pre FL) steering wheel has buttons for gear shifting. The new one (post FL) has paddles.

I might have misunderstood you, i know my swap is straight up, not like the one mentioned in this thread. My point was about how complicated is to strip down to bare wheel and rebuilt!

yes i did!! MUCH BETTER!! But i might have a issue with the heated module, or the wheel heater i received is bad, dunno yet. Other than that its awesome!! Ill post pics soon.
Also, i already had the carbon fiber interior trims, so it goes perfectly with the interior!

I hope to upgrade to 958.2 black leather steering wheel in the future myself. Will need to source one.
