i just reached out to Pfaff , my local Porsche dealer,
When they give me the part number I’ll let you know,

i still can’t believe how smooth it drives now,

I would say the fluid, change it every time you change oil, it’s cheap and super easy to do

Dunno since it's pretty much an experiment - but I'd go light to begin with and see if there is an improvement. Stuff is supposed to be very stinky stuff - so wear gloves, disposable clothes and cleanup rags. If you're changing the fluid at the same time I'd probably premix it with the fluid.

They added one bottle with a 800ML transfer care fluid change

it was a night and day change, still smooth as silk (knocking on wood)

Thank you 2011CayenneS for sharing this information with us. Please continue to keep us posted with the result. I think you can buy the additive friction modifier directly from any Ford dealership.

Amazon sell it for $9.05/bottle. However if it stinks as bad as some have suggested - wouldn't the Porsche dealer know you used it in the transfer case should you need the case replaced under warranty? Just changing the TC oil isn't going to get out every drop of the really stinky additive, and Porsche could deny your warranty claim "due to the use of incorrect lubricant".

Also if it does indeed stink as bad as some have suggested, wouldn't it be likely to stink up the interior of the car provided the TC is the newer design that has a vent routed to the cabin (to protect it from water ingress)? (Correction: vents to engine compartment)

It doesn’t vent to the cabin. It routes to underneath the hood in the engine bay.

Furthermore almost all differential type fluids STINK, nature of the beast. This additive is no different in that regard.

I took a wiff of the stock Porsche fluid - only a faint odor of sulfur as expected, not unlike any other gearbox lubricant in my experience.

whitecayennes - I think you're giving the dealership too much credit. For a warranty repair I doubt very much if they actually sniff the fluid in the transfer case. AFAIK - they don't even drain it before sending it back to Porsche. And if the vehicle was still under warranty/CPO why would an owner bother with this if the case is acting up? If it was me - I'd just ask for a new one. This is much more valuable - if it helps - for an out of warranty owner.

Well after 20K miles I changed the transfer case oil this morning - first time since new. The old stuff came out dark brown - the new stuff (Porsche) is almost clear with a faint amber color. Can't say there's a major improvement but it does seems to be smoother overall. I changed the engine oil/filter too so, I dunno, perhaps it's that overly optimistic feeling you get when you put-in new oil. Simple job that I'll be repeating every once and a while. I used new Porsche drain and fill plugs and noticed they're not tapered, they're straight. And I can see how easily one can over-tighten them if you don't use a torque wrench.
