If, IF there is a Gen2 3.0L buyback, what will you get?
As the days go by, the possibility of a Gen2 3.0L buyback gets closer and closer.
I often wonder why VW will even make the attempt at modifying the 3.0L when there are so few of them compared to all the 2.0L out there. Then have to provide warranty to them an all the other things associated with keeping them on the road, it might be better to just get them all back and be done with dieselgate 3.0.
I think I'd get a new S if the buyback were to be triggered. What would you get?

Define "so few." This motor is in A6, Q7 and Touraegs in addition to CDs. As Skiahh mentioned the value of each vehicle is approximately 3X the 2.0L so you take the 3.0L vehicle number and multiple that by 3. That number is not small..

Not to get too far OT, but a key part of the settlement agreed to by all parties and the judge was the fact that VW et al believed they could fix the Gen 2 3.0L diesels and hence they should not be subjected to buy-back at the start as they are (agreed to) with the Gen 1 3.0L. If the cost numbers were the other way around, there'd be a Gen 2 3.0L buy-back happening now.

Probably keep the CD.
Remind me again, is the value of the buyback frozen at Sept 2015 regardless of mileage? How does it work?
I'd honestly only buy a new car if I got out of it way more than I put into it. We love the CD.

Which seems way too good to be true.

If there is a buyback, the base buyback prices have been listed as a range, from what I can tell it is almost MSRP, and the prices will be fixed, however, there will be a float based on mileage. More miles than average=less money, less miles than average=more money.
No matter what, I know that if the buyback is triggered I'll be making out and be getting a LOT more than I had paid for the truck this past February. I'm hoping for the buyback as is my wife and her 2015 Touareg Exec.

I'd be at like $92K+ for the 2018/2019 S I would order.
It sure would be nice to take the CD to the dealer for the trade and then I could just float a note for the remainder of the price of a new S.
The deadline is coming, the deadline is coming.
