Thanks for the feedback.
Your comments are definitely valid - it's a regional issue based on weather and climate, but if you're in a "vulnerable" climate, the problem will almost certainly return at some point. But preventive/proactive TC fluid changes could keep it away indefinitely. It's just a question of a "fix" versus a "treatment". If PCNA will pay for the fix, I'd certainly recommend it.
I actually asked them to do a fluid change first (I was under a CPO warranty), but they insisted that given the state my TC had deteriorated to, a replacement was a safer and better long term option. Again, since I had no out of pocket costs, I went with the known solution. Fingers crossed!

Rick,
Did you examine your repair order for the TC replacement to see that they added the TC vent parts?

So no, the dealership that replaced my TC was not involved in my purchase of the CTT 3 yrs ago.
Plus to boot,... the original owner of my CTT bought a PSMP program, which transferred to me. So for the first 3 yrs of my ownership I paid zero for all service visits. That includes all oil changes, plugs, EVERYTHING. I have not paid a dime on this vehicle for the first 3 yrs of my ownership & I bought it USED from a different dealership.
yea,... to say the least I have been very happy with my experience.
Oh, I will also add that over the past 10 yrs, I have thrown them a bone or two & brought my 964 Turbo in for a few things (little things like A/C R134 conversion),... and I know one of the Sales Mgrs well. Plus we do some PCA events at their dealership too, so I help with those.
Hope this helps.

2014 Cayenne Platinum Edition (2015 build date). 58,600km
So last week I started getting hesitation/jerking at 3rd gear. Took to dealer, they said it was a problem with transfer case, replaced under warranty. Parts are similar to above:
958-341-011-GX
958-301-047-20
958-349-493-00
Picked up the car after 2 days. Today started the car (1 week / 200 kms after). I drive about 1 km down the street and hear a loud bang and then a grinding noise. Sounded like the whole transfer case dropped to the floor and was being dragged with the car. Got out and looked, nothing looks out of place and no fluids leaking. No messages on the dash. Called dealer, they are sending tow truck in a couple of hours.
Anybody with similar experiences ? Did they screwup the install of the new transfer case ? Maybe its something else but I find it very fishy tat it happen at the same time.
Thanks for reading.

Got call back from dealer, they said the drive shaft broke. I guess it's just my bad luck. I'll post the parts list when I get the paperwork on friday. At least my wife gets to drive a new Cayenne for a week.

Likely the drive shaft was damaged when replacing the TC - the driveshafts on the 958 series are not known to be a problem or frequent failure item. Bet they let it lay at too steep an angle while R&R of the transfer case was going on - causing damage to one of the CV joints that showed up after you put a few miles on it. I would press for a good-will replacement. They DID have to disconnect the front and rear driveshafts to replace the transfer case - so they were the last ones to play with it.

They are replacing the drive shaft under warranty so no money from my pocket. Just the inconvenience as it is far from my house and I lost a day of work, maybe I should press for an explanation. I just found it strange that it would fail 2 weeks after the TC was replaced. Thank you for the explanation, dealer just said it was broken and they were going to replace it. I should get the paperwork on friday and see what it says.

Update.
Got call back from Senior Service Advisor. The explanation is that the new transfer case cracked the drive shaft. Does not exactly inspire confidence (Car from Feb15 with 58K km). Mostly on HWY, never offroad, garage kept. Not pushed hard at all (I have other sports cars to abuse!). I just traded in my 2008 Merc CLK550 with 160K km and no issues with the engine or transmission at all, and I drove that car pretty hard. All my cars are service at the dealership.

"Service Adviser" job description = "Nice appearing person, well spoken, well dressed, able to toss some technical terms around without a clue what they mean, offer customers complimentary coffee and trained to separate customer from their money."
Once in a while an enthusiast sneaks into the job, but that's rare, and they usually have to sort of stay in the closet about being an actual auto enthusiast. If you find one like this.. nurture them. They can be very helpful in actually getting things fixed.
