Is it okay to drive around without my headunit installed? I pulled it out to put in the mr12volt and I realized I didn't get all the parts so now im waiting for them to send it and I don't really want to put it back in and then pull it back out when the parts come in

No issues.
I drove around for about three weeks without mine, including to Porsche Parade two years ago.
I just put a handful of paperback books in the opening and nobody noticed.
Mr12Volt issue - no sound initially when start car
Just installed this. Working fairly well but having an issue where when I first get in the car and start up, apple music will play but don't output any sound. If shut down the car and restart it then works fine. Not sure what could be causing this...

Nick from NMAutomotive is super helpful and has a better tuned product than the standard China CarPlay install for a PCM 3.1 first gen.
There are many reports all over of CarPlay failing after an iPhone upgrade or outdated hardware. Reset & reinstall did not work for me for the last 5 month.
IMHO, it's iOS updates and protocols on wifi and BT. So instead of going bug hunting again, I will try out the 12V system as I expect as least bump in audio quality with the Bose system... :-)

Not sure what nm or nick have to do with mr12volt but I do Indiana daily work no issues.
Think I figured this one out. I was connected via Bluetooth to the PCM, my phone might have been still connected to that. I removed that connection from my phone and the issue seems to be gone, will test out more going forward.
