My 2015 CD is 7 plus years old with 87xxx miles and still on original battery. It starts strong and shows good charge but the age tells me not much longer. What is the average life people are getting from their OEM batteries

During the decades of flooded lead acid batteries under the hood with the engine, I used 4 years as a life limit knowing from experience that I would get between 4-5 years and then get stranded.

Whenever I service the car, I test the battery. Percent CCA too low for my risk level, it gets changed.

For AGM average life span, I think it will be tough to determine an average for a few reasons:
- Severity of winter and summer
- Is the alternator's regulator charging voltage high enough to maintain an AGM? Regulators for flooded cell charge at a voltage less than that for an AGM.
- Where does it live? Engine compartment or not
- What is the car's normal inactive draw
- what loads are being placed on the electrical system during normal and abnormal use
- does it live on a charger when not in use

My cayenne had two batteries in its first 8 years. My average = 4 years.

With the AGMs, over the past decade:
- 2000 G500. Odyssey. lives in the rear. 12 years with Odyssey charger when not in use. Replacement is AGM. OEM regulator for wet cell
- 2011 Cayenne. Factory AGM battery. 5 years. Replacement AGM 3 years. Replacement AGM still going strong. OEM Regulator designed for AGM
- 2009 911. Factory flooded battery 2.5 years (lack of use I suspect). Replacement flooded battery 6 years. Replacement AGM. On Ctek charger. OEM regulator is designed for wet cell, I think.

I wouldn't change it. I have a 2011 CS that was on the OG battery when I swapped it out last year because I got scared. It still worked flawlessly. I would get a cheap battery tester that shows CCA and change it when its needed rather on a time/schedule.

People are reporting 7-10 years from OE batteries.

That having been said, I replaced mine today. I figured 7 years was good enough, and I would prefer that it not fail at an inconvenient time/location. I'll be in upstate NY and the Poconos in June, would not want to be chasing around looking for a replacement battery then...

I once did get every last start from a battery. Stopped at Sears because my Audi A6 was starting slowly. I moved the car from the parking lot to the indoor work area, then went to start it again to move into the work bay. Nope. it was done.

Replaced mine recently due to Auto Start/Stop failing. 2012 S with about 140k miles.

16 cayenne s here with 37k miles and battery is 84%, as tested by dealer.

My 2011 CD had the largest AGM battery (H9? presumably because of the options fitted) and I changed it more or less exactly when the car was 10 years old and 110,000 miles. The southern UK climate is I suppose quite kind to batteries.

Original battery in my '13 GTS went out this year Jan, 78k miles

I was out of town when ours failed in our 2014 Cayenne S. I asked my wife to just take it to our indy and have it replaced........wow! was i shocked when i got that bill!! $695 battery & labor!!!

Mine was 5 years old, took it to Napa... tested good, replaced it anyways. The key would not come out of ignition and ALL four indicators faulted out... after replacement, everything works perfectly

Mine is 2016 73k miles CPO, recently had issues with Auto Stop/Start button not working. They wanted to charge me $1000 for replacing the battery as they thought that was the culprit. Told me I would have to fork it out of pocket as CPO does not cover battery. They replaced the battery and guess what, IT still did not solve the issue. I ended up getting a free battery replacement :D. I did not notice any issues with start up's but they said the voltage did not meet the allocated specifications.
