Default Tow install

Hello Rennlist, I'm looking into purchasing a 958 GTS and would like to find one with the tow package. Most don't have it, but I assume I could install one on my own. Does anyone have any intel or experience with this? Thanks in advance.

I installed the factory tow package. Purchased from suncoast and took me maybe 3-4 hrs total start to finish to install. That included breaks and watching videos/reading what to do. It’s pretty easy.
After the install I had to get the dealer to program the tow package so it’ll go into tow mode when trailer lights/brakes plugged in. If I remember it was $1000-1200 all in. Could have done it cheaper with an aftermarket hitch but they don’t fit quite as nice as the factory, and I didn’t want to splice any taillight wires etc.
also should help for resale knowing it has a factory setup. Also the factory rating is 7,7XX lbs. I think the curt hitch etc was 6,000 lbs, so you get more tow capacity.(looks like some of the hitches have higher ratings now). Id stick with the factory one.....

Good word on the diffs between the factory and the Curt setups...I was going to go the latter (if we really needed it), but after reading this, plus thinking about resale, I'll just plan on doing the former. Thankfully, my DD, a Ram 1500 Rebel, will continue to do most of the heavy lifting (and towing) around our place.

When I did my hitch retrofit on my 2011 CS I used a Draw-Tite which is rated for 7,500 pounds. I pretty much followed the installation instruction in the TSB.

Good post. I have a 2015 Cayenne Diesel and thinking about installing a towing system. Do you have the purchase info from Suncoast? Also you mentioned installation video, could you please post a link for the video? Thank you.

I bought whole kit from suncoast. Was easiest to make sure I got everything. They had it on their website, can find using search function. or call them.

as for the video on the install I don’t have the link saved anymore. A search on YouTube should pull up a few.

FYI, Sunset Porsche is always worth a call. Sometimes I find there prices are less than Suncoast. Sometimes my locals dealers will match if they have stock, hitches on the other hand are unique because of weight.
