Doing water pump and thermostat tomorrow. This job will be a lot easier than what you went through as I don't have to remove much to get to both of those parts.

I read that you used clean engine oil on the thermostat rings. All Data states to use only a water soluble lube like Kluber S06. I'm going to use Ideal water soluble wire pull. You can also use astroglide to lube them as it's water soluble.
I used dow 55 o-ring grease. In a pinch you could use engine oil. Anything is better than nothing. I think vegetable oil from the kitchen would work too.

Good luck tomorrow. It's not a hard job. Just take lots of pictures.

I just used undiluted coolant to lubricate the t-stat o-rings prior to installation and they went in with little effort.

Did you see the price of it? I hope they use it at that price.

Attempted to make a coolant vacuum for the refill, after i gathered all the parts at harbor freight and Home Depot, I realized that I could just buy the Schwaben unit for a few bucks more so I put the stuff back on the shelf and walked out.

Purchased a 5 gallon, low wall catch basin for the coolant and will start digging into it later this evening or tomorrow afternoon.

Surfs up so that comes first.

D, I may want to to text you if I get stuck, if that’s ok?

I didn’t see the price of it, but since Porsche has always bent me over and stuck it to me without grease, I would assume that they didn’t believe in it.

So I removed it with it intact. I first removed the accordion hoses, then pulled the 1/4 turn pins that hold the Y-piece to the throttle body. There is a hose that comes off the bottom of the funky connector on the bottom of the Y that runs down close to the left valve cover. It connects to a hard line with one of those single use hose clamps. I had to cut that hose clamp off to disconnect it. I replaced it with a regular worm type hose clamp. See the hard line to the left/bottom of the valve cover?
To remove the fitting on the bottom of the Y Plenium, the red circle must be depressed back into its hole. You can do this with your fingers. The black plug next to it is just pressed in and will come out once you unlock the fitting with the red circle lock. I'll make a video of it later when I finish my job. Knees deep into it now. They actually make a tool for this called a fuel line disconnector. If you've disconnected fuel lines before, this red thingy works kinda the same way. It just sits up a "c" hair and a little depress is all you need for it to let go of the fitting and release.

Hope this helps.

Yep, picked up the Schwaben for like 84 bucks at ECS - one less thing to worry about once everything is buttoned back up - the only thing that I’m concerned about is the fuel lines - is there some kind of sealant that you can apply to the threads?

No sealant on the threads. They go together dry.
