List of Reliable Replica Wheels
There are many opinions on this forum regarding replica wheels. I bought a used set of 19 inch OEM wheels for my vehicle. Although I love the design, I have decided that the move from 18's to 19's does not make sense for me. I am going to sell those. I want to go to 20's. The 20 OEM wheels I have seen are more than I want to pay. With all the concerns about replica/aftermarket, can we start compiling a list of reliable aftermarket wheels?
I have no idea whether this is true or not, but I have been told that many of Porsche's OEM wheels are made in Chona and some in Eastern Europe. Chinese companies who manufacture OEM parts have no problem selling the same part under another name and calling it "replica." Anybody who wants to suggest a replica wheel manufacturer or a seller of replicas that they believe to be decent, please post for us. p.s. Did you consider aftermarket wheels like OZ, HRE, BBS and some other that are vendors here? I especially feel that with the weight of a Cayenne, do you really want to take a chance with replicas? Also, I think different times of the year, good OEM used sets are available at reasonable prices. |

The difference from 18's to 20's is very noticeable, and 20's look like performance that one associates with Porsche. Why Porsche even offered 18's on the Cayenne is beyond me. A friend of mine who works for Porsche told me that the 18's were a base option for comfort, and the idea that most people would build or spec with an upgraded wheel. |
I understand your concerns with weight to a degree. But at the end of the day, 21” OEMs are heavy as well. So I dont think it makes a huge difference on a Cayenne. Maybe a 911, but not on a Cayenne. I think durablilty with such a heavy vehicle is more important imho. I would not go replicas as they are usually made in china. I think reputable aftermarket is not bad, but I would prefer used OEMs. The best times for the <21 are spring and summer as most people are looking for the 21 wheels for summer. 20 is one of those sizes that can be a winter and summer wheel, so it may not be a huge difference in price. Which 20 are you looking for? The 20 RS Sypder wheels seem to hold its value a great amount. |

I replaced the oem exhaust tips and guess what its made in China, and the replacement i bought is also made in China but way better quality than the OEM...don't assume everything made by Porsche have better quality. |

+1 on OEM wheels made in China. Most aluminium of the weels are made in China nowadays.
I have been using OEM, BBS and replicas on my Cayenne. I haven't noticed any problems with the replicas, be it finish or strenght. I have been using my 18" turbo replicas as winter wheels for 7 years now. Still look brand new.
