2011 CTT suspension refresh??
Hey All,
my 2011 CTT has 94k on it and seems like the overall feeling of the suspension/steering could be tighter. I've changed out control arms and bushings many a times on BMW's over the years to get the "new" feeling back. Is this something you would recommend on a CTT of this age? Air Suspension seems to be good, compressor was replaced last year.

My CTT has almost the same miles on it (92k) and I can't say the suspension feels bad at all. The damping control still responds to the comfort/regular/sport setting, and no looseness detected in the steering. Tires can make quite a difference, as can tire pressure. I run mine with the minimum load pressure for my winter snow tires - and still get good grip on corners. When they went on - the pressure was set by the garage at max high-speed, full load pressure - under those conditions the car didn't feel planted at all. And I'm quite familiar with the BMW suspension issues - owned multiple 5 series and 3 series. 50,000 mile suspensions IMHO. Crappola. Felt wonderful when new, but didn't stay that way for long.

Thanks for the thoughts!! Tires are pretty much brand new Pirelli Scorpions but i do think it may need to be aligned. I drove a 15' CTT yesterday with 43K miles on it and it definitely feels a little tighter but that could be many different things all working together since it has 50k less miles. I'm going to have my indy tech look it over next time it's in to get his opinion if it would be worth it.

Your indy is going to look at the bushings and if they are not showing signs of cracking, then he will tell you it's good. I think that replacing all bushings will help to tighten it up more than anything else. Next is shocks then tires.

I was going to do that but didn't have the busing in time for the air shock replacement. The shop said my right bushing could use replacement but it looked fine to me. Creaks a wee bit when it warms up.

I had the lower and upper control arms replaced on my CTT at a similar mileage. They were making noises on bumpy roads. The front end felt much "tighter" after they were replaced. (Under CPO warranty)
