Default 2011 S how long to warm up?

Seems like my car takes forever to warm up. Today at 10 degrees I must have driven about 15 minutes before it reached OT. It will actually move up to around 150 then sometimes drop again before eventually rising steadily. Wonder if my tstat is kinda stuck?

my 2011 S also takes forever to warm up in cold weather. I haven't seen the 150, then drop, activity, but in general, given the amount of oil and coolant in the car, as well as the pretty good sized radiators, it tends to make sense that it takes a while.

I'd call it normal.

Also 2011 CS here, i let it go to around 110 on the coolant and whatever the oil temp is at that time and just go slow. The minute you drive to end of block, temp already start to come up.

That sounds about right, 15 minutes that is. Got to remember that the oil is going from 10 degrees to 150-200 so it will take some time.

Am I doing it all wrong then? I'm barely alive in the morning running to work cause I'm probably otherwise going to be late and drive only 3 min

from what I gathered from your post, you let the car idle for a while. Thats generally not a good idea as the car runs rich and has a tendency to wash the oil off the cylinder walls.

I fire it up and get going within 30-45 seconds.

My warmup is about 3 min in real cold. If its 40 degrees out there I think I only warm about a minute, maybe 1.5min

Yeah lots of fluids - does make some sense. I probably drive a half mile to get out of my neighborhood. My Volvo would be putting out heat by then. I miss that.

Thanks guys

Just hopped in the car. It's been about 30 seconds now and 16F outside. I'll drive when coolant close to 100F

Everything I have read says that you should not let these cars warm up (996s too). It is something I typically did until I read it. Above, quadcammer indicates why. With the engine not under load, it does not actually warm up, so it continues to run rich, washing the oil away from the cylinder walls. The manual for my diesel actually says not to let it idle at cold start up. It says to move, and not abuse (paraphrasing) as soon as you start it.
