Bose amplifier on its way out

Hey all,

I did a bit of searching, but wasn't able to find exactly what I needed, so I apologize if I missed a thread on this.

Anyways, my wife's '13 Cayenne S has been making a muffled popping noise whenever we start the car, which is coming from the front passenger door's speaker. This has been going on for a few weeks, but the other day the speakers stopped working all together, but the sub was still making noise to the music. After sitting for a night, the speakers began to work again, but the popping noise continues. Figure it's only a matter of time before the sound cuts out again. Are there any quick fixes for this that any of you are aware of? If not, would there be an issue with replacing the amp with an aftermarket one? I know some cars tie in some of the navigation and park assist with the amp, so I don't want to do that if I'd run into any problems down the road.

Thanks

I rather suspect that the Cayenne - as most euro cars do - uses crossovers built into the input of the amplifier to direct sound to the different speakers connected to it. An aftermarket amp will not have that capability. So - that means a complete rewiring of the car's speaker system and adding crossovers for the speakers and balancing them all out. I suspect finding a used amp off a wreck would be a much better and cheaper solution.

Mine was replaced under warranty. They are known to go bad. $700 charged to Porsche.

Dang, sounds like a replacement is in order. I appreciate the help, deilenberger and chsu74.

Mine was also replaced under warranty after the same symptoms as yours.

Common issue. Amplifier is the usual culprit.

Does anyone know where to buy a new or used one for a decent price? I just had this happen to my car and eBay seems meh and some of my usual parts sources do not list the part. Thanks!

I'm having same issue. I found evidence of water entry in main connector. Check out my reply in other post.
