Dashcams for the Cayenne
I've been doing some research on getting a 2 channel dashcam for the Cayenne, primarily because I regularly drive the car into the city, and have people in garages park the car and keep it there for extended periods of time. I've narrowed my choices down to the Blackvue 750, but also considering a cheaper alternative.
Has anyone done the installation themselves? I don't mind paying for someone to install it for me, but if it's something you can do if you're somewhat handy, I'd be willing to give it a shot. I've heard the install on the rear hatch on some cars can be a pain, so thought I'd ask. Thanks!

since had a need for more elaborate setup because of two bad experiences one of which totaled my 08 CS
So did extensive research and did i started with 2 x 2 Channel Black Vue 750 total of four cameras , however due to some over heating issues when using earlier firmware i did replace all with the 900S as soon as it came out in the summer
anyway installing one 2 channel cams are easy if you use the plug in style to one of the 12 VDC. i did have them professionally installed since my set up is some what complicated , due to using 4 cellink neo 6 batteries as well as permanent WiFi hot spot
for cloud access, at the end of the day, with the newest 900S firmware i am able to have the system running in parking mode for about 50-52 hrs. without using the car battery except for the duration of the 12VDC being powered after turning off the engine and lock the car.
hope that would help. good luck
whatever you do always wire the system to a switched on source , i.e powered when the engine is running in case of a hardwired setup. or just use the 12VDC outlet for a simple system/

Thanks marinerbc! I have some homework to do! I'm pretty set on the 750 2ch set-up...and most likely going to just power it via the 12VDC outlet for now. Will come back with further questions!

I did not get fancy. Bought this from Aliexpress for my wife's GL and liked it. Camera is 1080P at 30fps. Have one for Cayenne waiting. Local stereo shop charged me 1.5hrs labor to install. Prefer the hidden look. $250 for a front and rear camera installed.

I have the Blackvue 900S and had it installed. Given that it took a trained installer about 4 hours (first time he had done a Cayenne) and I am quite glad I turned it over to a pro. I don't think there was anything that was really troublesome about the install but there are a lot of panels to be removed for the wires to be routed to the back and (in my case) a permanent install. He ended up using the fuse panels on the passenger side of the vehicle.

I use blackvues in my cars. Have the 700 series dual camera in the cayenne. Been very happy with them. I did the installs and use the magic pro box for voltage awareness. Very happy with them. Saved me a couple thousand when I got bumped in a parking lot. Insurance went after the guy, had his plates and everything. He was uninsured.

I have the Blackvue 650 2 camera system in a benz, and I installed the Blackvue 750 in my cayenne. Its really simple to wire yourself. There are fuseboxes on either side of the front compartment dash, so pick the side you want the main camera wired to. I use the magic-something box to adjust the shutoff voltage and there is plenty of space to insert that into a spare fuse location and tuck the wiring away. You could wire it into the overhead light, but I didn't want to take that apart since I was using the larger magic-something power unit for the shutoff voltage. For running the cord to the rear camera, most german cars have the massive rubber trim that easily hides the thin wiring. On the rear camera, I used a basic ziptie, made a loop, and inserted that in the hatch trim as a guide for extra power/video cord. This allows my camera to have a little extra cable for the hatch to open/close while not looking sloppy. Most of the time was spent cable managing it all neatly. I used a multimeter to find out what empty fuse slot is on all the time (even when car is off) and ran the cable into that. I used a small fuse blade connector to crimp on that input wire so it connects into the fuse socket cleanly. There is another input for when the car ignitions is on- so find that one with the multimeter for the 'ignition on'. The third wire for power is simply a ground connector to complete the circuit. I found a small nut on bare metal, loosened that, and used the ground wire on that. Pretty simple overall if you have any DIY skills. If not- pay someone, but I would not pay over one shop hour for the install.
Oh- and so far I've handed video footage for one hit and run for some guy that was ahead of me, and also footage for a break-in that occurred near me in SF. I would like to add side coverage, or 4k, but these cameras are a necessity with P-cars or anything you value. Total Ive had several incidents not involving myself, where people needed my footage afterwards for their insurance or even police asking for the footage of an event that I hapenned to be parked near.

The link isn't working for me. Could you provide make and model information on your setup?
thanks

I went with Owlcam for front and inside as it give notifications and you can access remotely over the cell network, they don't yet have rear camera support so I added a Roav C1 that I access over WiFi.
I'm pretty happy with my setup
