Has there been any real determination of root cause of what exactly is failing? Surely Porsche would do another update if the vent design is still failing???
Also, is the Macan design very similar as I thought I read they were failing also.
If it is material related then you would think they would upgrade material. Would almost have to be sealing/contamination issue and I would not think that many are driven off road. For goodness sakes copy a competitor’s design if you cannot get it right yourself.

Revised Transfer Case Production Date?
Does anyone know the date when Porsche began installing the revised transfer cases? E.g. all vehicles with manufacturing dates after ________?
cheers,

This question's been thrown around here in the forum before, but nobody really knows (except PCNA of course). The thought was sometime during the 2018 model year, due to the fact that 2017s were still having the issue, but then I believe some early 2018s had the issue also. So I don't think anyone here has the definitive answer to that question unfortunately.

Just had my transfer case replaced under warranty, details entered in the survey. Porsche and dealer took care of the problem no questions asked but thanks to all the forum members who have provided the background and data to help owners such as myself figure out what was going on.

I have a manual transmission 2014 Cayenne - transfer case replaced at 18,000 and 49,500 miles in a hot humid climate - I am told there is no update (vent tube) for manual transmission cars. 2nd replacement 4 months out of warranty by time - PCNA paid 85%. Isn’t insanity doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result....

Dealer just agreed this morning that my 2017 Cayenne S with 24,711 miles has a transfer case problem .. stuttering on acceleration .... new transfer case ordered and now waiting for the part....

I had to pay for the replacement of the transfer case on my 2013 Cayenne GTS (out of warranty). Wanted to get the old defective one and tear it apart, but I don't think Porsche will give it to you. This seems like a recurring issue that is being swept under the rug.

That sounds wrong? Now if they replace it under factory warranty, then you cannot have the old/replaced parts back. But if you pay out of pocket, and out of warranty, those old replaced parts are YOURS!

One possibility may be that the price for the replacement assumes a core charge return. Though there's no mention of that on the part when looking at the pricing.

Confirmed with 2013 Turbo at 52K miles. Just had the fluid replaced today when I dropped into my local independent mechanic with the stuttering issues between 2 & 4. Luckily all issues resolved with a simple fluid flush and replacement but many thanks to this thread for helping me catch it in time and know to keep an eye on it during regular oil changes.
