Default Bluetooth Calls Sounding Lousy

All of a sudden my bluetooth calls are sounding bad. When the other party speaks the sound is like an old FM station out of tune in the background. I unpaired and re-paired the phone, but no change. Any thought or ideas?

New one to me. My Cayenne has the best hands-free calling quality of any car I have had. Did you try rebooting your phone?

What brand phone? It would be worth trying to pair another phone to it to see if it's on the phone or the vehicle side.

I had a similar problem that drove me crazy for months. The dealer couldn’t figure out why only my phone sounded crappy and only in my car. When I used a different phone in my 2013 CTT it sounded great and when I used my phone in a loaner it sounded great too.

The problem was that I was using “Automatic” (www.automatic.com), a Bluetooth connected device in the OBD2 port and it was causing interference. As soon as I unplugged it, the phone call audio quality was perfect.

FYI, I was using a Samsung Galaxy S7 (now a Galaxy S9) with Verizon.

Mine sucks too. It has kind of a cellophane rattle when the other guy speaks. Deleting the Bluetooth profile from the car and the phone and restarting them both before repairing them gets me a few good days. I have a 2014 base, verizon, and an s8.

I have an iPhone 6. I deleted it and re-paired. That didn't work. The next day and since then, it has worked fine.

I usually just throw it on the passenger seat.

have you reset your PCM ?

PCM CAR > OPTION > Set PCM System > Reset PCM
reconnect phone

will you lose all and/or some settings? yes, maybe. depends on the reset option you pick
will it potentially fix your issue? yes/maybe.

I had some strange bluetooth issues issues before & this PCM reset has worked for me, YMMV
