2012 Cayenne Purge valve

What’s was fault code? Are they talking about the tank vent valve? Ask what diagnosis was done that they know the valve is faulty. I have seen faulty tank vent valves throw P0441 and P0456 but it’s not “common.” Fwiw it’s not always the common thing that breaks. Knowing what faults you had stored would help.

I just replaced the tank vent valve on my 20111 with 75k miles. Part of the emission system to check for leaks in the fuel system. $500

I had the purge valve replaced on my 2013 GTS a few weeks ago. Only have about 55k miles on the ODO, and had to replace the carden shaft as well since it was in pretty bad shape. Per the dealer, apparently the purge valve was stuck wide open...causing a lot of erratic shaking and idling. It also caused my GTS to have a horrible crank after filling the tank...
All in all, it was about a $1500 fix at the dealer for just the purge valve. The carden shaft was about the same, maybe a little more. But hey, the GTS runs silky smooth now!

I had my front cardan shaft replaced. The dealer said the balancing weights got knocked off. They didn't specify how but to me it sounded like someone did it during maintenance although it's impossible to prove. No symptoms. They spotted it during an inspection. I would assume that the bearings on that shaft would have failed, eventually, because of the unbalanced shaft. It just got caught early on.

deilenberger, apologies for the late response as I'm overseas for the holidays.
The dealership caught it while the car was in to replace the purge valve. There were no symptoms (like dbv1 stated above), but mentioned to me that the cardan shaft had to be replaced because of bad bearings. I think the SA mentioned that if I didn't address it sooner or later, I'd start to hear some loud noises coming from underneath the car, and I just didn't want that.
Honestly, I was willing to bite the bullet (though it was a pretty expensive one) to replace it and have the truck well maintained considering I had just picked up the GTS a few months ago. I do plan on keeping it for another 5-10 years, so I felt it was the right thing to do.

Hey CK.GTS, you got the best looking Cayenne here (ducks). It's the right thing to do, no doubt. I suspect it's the exact same problem as mine, just further along. Only me and my dealer get to work on mine to avoid this kind of stuff.

I been having this code come and go for the past month or so. I can't find anything that show the location of this purge valve. Does any member have a link to a picture or DIY thread showing where and how to replace this on a 2011 VR6?
