Need 20" Tire- Choose From 3
#2
I've never had either of the 3 you mention but based on what I've read, if I had to choose one of those 3, I'd go with the Pirellis. Now I did have the Nitto NT421Q on my Touareg for over 20k miles and I absolutely loved that tire. Not the greatest snow and ice grip after those miles but still better than these new crappy LS2's that came with my CD. They are cheaper too.

I have had the DWS but not the 06 version, they were good but only lasted about 25,000 miles.
I have the Pirelli's now and they are working very well, every bit as good as the Continentals.
I have always used Michelin's but there was only the Latitude's and I didn't want to pay a LOT more for them over the Pirellis. For about $20 more per tire, I'm going to go with Michelin's next time but then again, as I'm going to get a set of winter tires for my extra set of 19" Design II wheels, I might go with summer tire for my next 20" set.

With the exception of one person who disliked the "feel" of the DWS - they've pretty much gotten excellent reviews from the members here. I had the 19" ones on my '06 S - and while not a summer tire, I never felt there was any decrease in cornering ability. I wasn't tracking the car - just the usual on/off-ramp gran'-prix style stuff.. Can't speak to wear since they only had about 20,000 miles on them when I traded the '06 in - but they had plenty of tread left - probably at least 70%. They were a vast improvement in ride quality over the Latitudes that came on the car.

What part of Maryland? If you're in the western mountainous part, that could require a quite different tire choice than the other parts of MD. Considerably different winter climates.

I can tell you that I am absolutely going with the Contis next time - I put the Michelin Latitudes on in September 2017, and after 10k miles the rears are down to 4/32" - that is completely unacceptable. Michelins also have the worst warranty - 20k miles on these versus 50k for the Contis. There is no way I'm going to spend $250/month on tires just so I can have N spec - this is ridiculous.
My prior Yokohamas got about 20k miles, and the Contis I had on a BMW 7 series consistently got 25k - 30k miles. I really can't believe I spent the premium $$ for these tires with the lowest warranty - shame on me.

DWS seems to be what lasts longest. Handling is great, but it is like power....how often do you really push your vehicle hard? As an everyday driver, I rarely ever use it like a race car. I like the power for passing. Hence...I like longer tire life as long as the tires do well in the rain.

I live near Ft. Meade and commute to DC so I stay around those parts, no mountains here lol

None of the above. I use the Sumitomo HTR in that size for less than HALF the price, but run dedicated Blizzaks in the winter.

On my CS I ran DWS06 when I has my 20' RS wheels and when i added the 21' I now run Pirelli All season plus and although I havent run the Michelins im very aware of them in the tire world.
get the Pirellis.
DWS are fantastic but if price isn't the concern then Pirelli are the winner. At first they had me confident in turns but didn't feel "above standard" once they broke in better I love them I know I can take these wheels to the track in NY and be confident in everything they do. Fantastic blend for all seasons
