Default Apple Car Play for PCM 3.1

I have a 2014 Porsche Cayenne S which does not have voice command. (The button that is on the end of the turn indicator.) Since it is a 2014 it has PCM 3.1 Generation1 which does not have the option for an after production upgrade that is available with PCM 3.1 Generation 2 that comes on 2015-2016 Cayenne's. I am looking at adding an aftermarket product made by Lsailt MODEL LLT-BSJ-VER1.5.4 that provides Apple Carplay for both Gen 1 and Gen 2 PCM 3.1's. Has anyone successfully done this and who did you have install it?

Default Misc questions

Great thread! I have been looking for options to add CarPlay to my 2014 991.1. Can’t wait to hear from people who is installing this.

A few questions I hope someone can answer:
1) why is there a non-standard Siri button on the screen?
2) do you need to install a dedicated microphone or can you use the built-in microphone from the integrated phone system?

Thanks

David - I'm moving this over to the 958 subforum since that's (1) what you own (2) where most of the 3.1 PCM owners will be..

Hang on.

Wow, they want enough for this interface box. However, it looks like a pretty good option vs totally replacing the PCM with aftermarket. I got pretty spoiled with Android Auto in my Chevy. I'll be interested in any feedback and sub'ing to this thread.

Edit: maybe not such a great alternative to aftermarket after watching the install video.. IMO.

Me too. My wife has a modern Chevy with both Android Auto and Apple Carplay - works great!

Does seem to be something real too:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Appl...820507140.html

And there was some incomplete posts on a Macan forum about the upgrade. Seems to require the loss of the sat radio interface and swaps in this board. Though I would really like to know what the details are and if anyone else has done it.

Anyone?

I can't even figure out quite how it works/installs. I did find a YouTube video showing someone interacting with it in a Cayenne - but they were using the control ****. So am I to assume that "touch control" for the CarPlay stuff doesn't work?

What about the rest of the PCM 3.1 system? Can I switch out of CarPlay and still access the rest of it (Nav, CD player, iPod, Jukebox, etc.)?

Quite impressive - if you use an iPhone. Be nice if the same company worked on an Android phone interface..

Hmmm... looks like the same system does both: http://www.naviplus.com.au/online-st...Kit-p101011558 I think.. have to look at Android Auto to see if it would be useful.

There is a thread and group buy for an Apple Carplay kit for PCM 3.1 at least for the 991. But I am thinking that it should work for the Cayenne woith PCM 3.1. My kit for my 991 should be coming in next week. Take a look at the thread:

Looks really well integrated but $1000 Australian is a ton of money for something I don't really need... If these come down to the $3-400 level I'd be a buyer...

You might check the exchange rate - last time I looked it was 2:1. Aussie dollar was worth 50 cents - which would bring it down to the $500 range.

It's actually hovering right around the $0.80 mark these days. I agree with the sentiment above though.. Car Play (Android Auto in my case) add on is worth $300-$400 tops, and that's allowing for P-tax. It's cool, but not remotely $800 cool, especially considering you can get a pretty great aftermarket head unit for that kind of money and not have the trouble of opening up your PCM and cobbling it together yourself. If it were a sanctioned tequipment upgrade including dedicated buttons, working with the onboard mic, GPS and USB ports I could see that asking price.
