Default Alarm stopped CHIRPING when armed!?!

2011 Cayenne Base
The audible Chirp when arming the alarm has stopped chirping for both keys #1 and#2. Lights still flash, alarm still functioning.
Mega search revealed no answers.

Worse yet, dealer can't tell me why, and cannot fix it.

Any thoughts?

There is a setting in the vehicle settings that turns the chirp off. It's possible this somehow got changed. Another one of those you gotta dig down into the menus to find it - but it's there...

Do your interior lights kick back on when you lock it?

It could be indicating a central locking system fault. Sometimes when I unlock all the doors, or open the right rear, the lock doesn't actually lock on the right rear. It doesn't chirp, and the interior lights come back on. You can check this by locking it and trying to open the doors. If one opens, there's your problem. You'll want to check this with key in-hand, in case one does open and the alarm starts going off.

If this is your issue, I haven't gotten the door panel off to figure out the root cause, or to figure out how to fix it yet, but as an interim "fix" you can manually lock it with the rotating manual lock actuator in the door jamb, located above the child lock.

every now and then my 14 stops chirping. Seems 2 or 3 drives later it is back to normal. I would love to know what setting you found it under. I would love to turn it off for good.

When I arm my 2013 CD the horn honks twice. I much prefer the "chirp" I get on a loaner Porsche... Any chance this is a setting I can toggle?

In my mega-search, it seems some Pcars have the ability to switch On/Off the alarm chirp under SETTINGS, but I can't find that option on my 2011 Cayenne Base.
Mine used to chirp, then quit suddenly.

And what's with the double "Honk" by Jayhawk's 2013 CD?
Is this unique to CD? weird.

projekt--thanks. I'll check that out

The only other thing I can think of is that my vehicle was initially sold in Canada. There's a few unique things I know of; the speedometer in in kilometers per hour and my Entry and Drive key plug is dull black plastic versus the chrome surround plug.

Just went and checked mine - '11 CTT - it doesn't have an option to turn the chirps off. Maybe it was the '14 diesel loaner I had whilst mine was disassembled for a month.

Where does the actual 'chirp' sound come from? Maybe the OP's 'chirper' component gave out??

11s and 12s could have their beep disabled by the dealer (even early 13s I've heard). This is the first I've heard of a user selectable option.

Mid/Late 13s, however, did not allow the dealer to disable the beep. I cringe every time I lock my 13CD as that stupid double beep reminds me of that POS Golf I had ages ago...

I've heard that they brought the ability to disable the beeps back in late 14s and forward.

The sound from the loaner (brand new, 11 miles on the ODO) I had while my tank heater replaced was still rather whimpy, but it was quick, just one tone, and much quieter. I wouldn't have a problem living with that.

I have not checked since PIWIS III came out to see if they could kill that stupid horn for me now.

Entirely possible. The 955 clickers were known to fail (tiny speaker under the dash..)

My left rear door is doing this. Won’t lock and sets off alarm if you open.

As clarification: were you getting the "double beep" of the horn prior to doing this child lock/ manual lock deal? As described in my message above, I would much prefer the "chirp" over the "double beep" I get now on my 2013 CD.

I don’t know where the sound comes from but it’s the same 2 chirps and flashing lights I always had when I locked it.
