DIY 958 Differential Fluid Service (Front and Rear)
#16
Ok, looks like it's been a year since the last time I didn't change the differential and transfer case fluid. Seems pretty straightforward, why didn't I do it? Oh yeah.....I just changed the oil and was preparing to change the differential gear oil (x2) and the transfer case fluid.... with the stuff I bought last year and just remembered why I didn't do it last year: never settled the question if I could reuse the differential plugs and transfer case plugs. We reuse the oil drain plugs with a new crush washer, why would the diff & t-case be any different if the washers can be replaced?
In case I'm off base, the differential plug part number seems to be 955-332-057-00, about $15 each x 4. Is there a washer part number in the event we want to reuse the same plug?
Is there a part number for the transfer case plugs? ECS tuning has a part number: Mfg Part #95530111501
ECS Part #ES#1445371 Is there a washer part number in the event we want to reuse the same plug?
Or maybe I shouldn't change these fluids? 96k, no towing.
Thanks in advance.

Differential plugs 26ft/lb, transfer case 15 ft/lb MAX. Do not over torque the transfer case plug or you will crack the transfer case. If you notice the transfer case plug is not tightened to level with the case, it sits a little higher.

Burning Brakes
Sounds like folks are happy with this in the transfer case:
What are folks using in the differentials? Weight and brand?
Ravenol J1C1125 Transfer Case Fluid TF-0870 - Full Synthetic (1 Liter)

I have a Turbo with the PTV so I went with:
Front: Porsche Brand: 000 043 205 30 OEM
Rear: Porsche Brand: 000 043 300 37 OEM
Both are 75w90

I use Ravenol J1C1109 SAE 75W-90 Gear Oil - VSG Full Synthetic API GL-4 / GL-5 Spec (1 Liter) for my front and rear differential. My 2013 Cayenne S does not have PTV+.

I use Liqui Moly Full Synthetic.

Friction modifier
Hi all. Does the diff fluid change need any friction modifier additives on a cayenne without ptv+?
Does the diff fluid change on a non ptv+ require to spin the wheels when pumping the fluid in to get the full amount?
thanks in advance.
