Auto Dimming Passenger Side Mirror Glass Darkened

Am I the only one who's experienced a darkened side mirror glass on the passenger side? Oddly enough, the auto-dimming feature still works when activated however the glass remains at about 30% tinted when the A-D feature is turned off. Activating the mirror heaters have no effect.

Unlike my wife's Merc ML, the fluid within doesn't seem to have leaked out; only that the glass has a dark haze to it (with the exception of the entire mirror perimeter which is of normal color.

Anyone?

Now dealing with the same problem on the driver's side. Am I the only one....the chosen one?

i have had to replace the glass heated lens on my 2005 and 2009 Turbos. Both still heated but had discolored to the dark amber coffee color.

its a 2 minute job to pull off the old lens and snap in the new lens.

My driver's side did the same but I am ignoring it.

I've been checking the prices for replacement mirror glass, and they range from: $24 Chinesium peel & stick non-heated, $162 PAG heated and $780 PAG heated and auto-dimming.
At $800 per side, I never did quite like the auto-dim feature on the side mirrors.;)

@Andy E. interesting you don't like the autodimming mirrors, that is one of my favorite features of mine. The heater I could honestly live without and I am in New England. For some reason the mirrors are one of the few parts of this car that rarely ices up for me.

I find that the auto-dim feature on the rear-view mirror is a must, but having it on the side mirrors really doesn't do much for me.

The same thing happened to my wife's ML320 some years back where the fluid leaked out on the passenger side mirror and subsequently turned black. Found a heated replacement for under $100.

Besides, shelling out $1600 for replacement mirrors on a vehicle that is only worth $15K at best would not make much sense from a financial point of view. :(

How's it possible that your mirrors have never frozen up in NE weather?
