Oil canister seal leak issue after oil change
I was doing my first oil change for my 08 CTT that is the same for V8 models and my new filter's oil ring seal slipped / sqeezed out. This caused a quick puddle of oil. When I tried to tighten the canister a little more the leak increased and I noticed the new seal was coming out when I tighten the canister. The seal didn't look oversized and fitted pretty tight when I put it on the canister.
What was more odd was that I idled the car after installing the filter and adding new oil for a few minutes and there were no leaks and only after install back the skid plates the leak started.
I removed the Bosch black rubber seal and put back the old white rubber seal and so far no leaks. The only thing I did different the second time was that I put the seal on the last thread and not pass the threads.
Has anyone read or experienced this issue before?
