^^Hope you can find that unicorn, I've never seen one for sale, didn't know they existed. 2009 GTS probably the sweet spot for you. FYI I test drove a few back when I was in the market and decided I was willing to forego the clutch for two turbos. But I'm addicted to power and live at high elevation so YMMV.

It could be that the 955/957 S manual never made it to the US. In Europe we have them.

957 S Manual: http://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/de...l?id=222426867
955 S Manual: http://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/de...l?id=213038833

I don't get though why on earth one would drive this type of cars as manual, nothing 'drivers car' about a Cayenne imho.

It's an SUV so inherently it's not going to be a drivers car, but still the manual makes it less painful

I would LOVE a six speed manual in a CTT with PDCC. Nothing 'drivers car' about a Cayenne? Not even the fact that some models run faster lap times than Porsche's 'drivers car' models? Certainly it is not an 911RS from any vintage but, I find it very engaging as a daily driven road car. With PDCC in sport it is an animal, a pissed off one at that. It will burn up tires and brakes with the best of them and the 'whoosh' is better than drugs. Sounds kinda 'drivers car' ish to me...

I agree. It's hardly a boring SUV with a nice badge on the hood.

I got mine as a beater to drive in crappy weather and tow stuff with. It has become my favorite car (and I've owned a LOT of cars).

I drive a CTT with PDCC myself, no need to explain - I would still never ever want to have it as a manual. If I want to buy a proper drivers car, it's not the Cayenne.

The Cayenne is definitely fun to drive, still not a 'drivers car' in my books. You don't cross shop between an M3 and a Cayenne when looking for a nimble great handling vehicle.

The CTT is one of only 2 slushbox vehicles in my garages. The lack of a manual transmission is my main dislike about it.

You are entitled to your own opinion, but you can type till your fingers hurt before you change anyone's mind about this. We all have our own preferences which is what makes the world such an interesting place. After riding sportbikes for so long automatics just feel too boring and so do most manual cars. I suppose that is partially why I am fond of vehicles with nodoors.

Some of us just like to drive stick and manually work machines out of pure enjoyment. When I rent cars overseas I am always disappointed when I request a stick (always do) and they give me an automatic.

From old classic cars and trucks to modern ones I opt for the manual versions every single time. If they made a cayenne turbo in manual I would absolutely get it.

The M3 would be a 4-5 month a year car where I live. My comparison based on my local is more like 3/4 ton 4wd pick-up and a Cayenne. My real cross shop was a 4 door 4wd Tacoma six speed manual and a Cayenne turbo. Pretty easy choice if you like driving. There is a new Golf R in the garage too but I NEED something 'truck like'. Best drivers 'truck' on the planet is the CTT.

That's funny, my Cayenne 957 4.8 had a scored cylinder 8 as well. That happened at 40k kilometres. Engine data showed no over revving so it wasn't due to revving when cold or inappropriate driving etc.

I sold mine last week because i was tired of the design flaws. My car had done 40k kilometres on the first and 110k on the second engine. In total the car "consumed" 4 hpfp's... I talked to specialists and the conclusion is that there are a lot of problems in the 4.8's: the material inside the engine is very weak (cheap), the tolerances between piston and cylinder wall are to big and my 8th cylinder got scored because of over heating (official dealer statement) because that cylinder is the farthest away from the water pump. So the say they upgraded the 4.5's cylinder coating in the 4.8 but i guess they created even more problems with that engine then the 4.5. I really love the design of the 957 Cayenne (more than the 958) but i didn't want to spend any extra euro on that car which is in my opinion full of design flaws. Just compare the mileages of the V6 models with the v8's on second hand car websites... I wished i bought that instead of the V8.

Hi there, a simple question. When you guys work on your cayenne, do you just put it on ramps or lift up? I found intense work under the car with ramps is not that easy. Working under hood is not very easy either because cayenne is big and high.

Has anyone successfully converted their 957 CTT to manual transmission using a donor 957 GTS vehicle? Sounds intriguing to me.

Fun fact: My 957 CTT is the first and only automatic transmission vehicle I've ever owned!

Saw a listing on LA Dismantlers on a complete kit to do just that - used tranny from a GTS, and pedal assembly, shift linkage - the works..

Hi all,

I am an owner of a 2004 Cayenne base model 3.2 (6-speed). it's a great car as I use it mainly for my weekly long distance business trip. I have to drive about 250km (500km round trip) weekly for work once a week. The car is now at about 160,000km on the dial and everything still runs very well. It's been very reliable and I honestly haven't had too many problem.

I want to see if it's possible to swap the 3.2 engine to the 4.5 engine of the same generation to give it a more powerful engine. I honestly have no compliant of the car and I love it so much but just want a bit more power to enjoy my weekly drive.

Any suggestion is welcome.
Cheers
Eric
