Default 955 (05) Cayenne TT engine gasket and Turbo rebuilds

Hi all, I recently acquired an early model Cayenne TT.

It does not burn oil, it does have some age or wear on the gaskets so I am going to be doing a replacement of the head gaskets, spark plugs gaskets, and looking at having Majestic rebuild the turbos.

I have gathered most of the parts and new hardware to do the engine/spark plug and happy to get input of while you are in there....you might consider doing this so I am on target for one tear down. (Would injectors make sense, anything you think.).

Optional....

but I wonder...if while I am in there...might as well rebuld the turbo's too?
Any value of doing above OEM spec internals like racing applications or ceramic bearings/titanium turbines or what not? I am not making a track machine, just wondering if it makes sense and it's a 100 dollar difference, I should just do it.

TURBOCHARGER rebuilds consist of:
Tear down / initial inspection
Thorough cleaning / blasting / painting
Re-inspection and call with estimate
Obtain customer approval
Rebuild turbo unit
Fully balanced
All tolerances are checked, reassembled then shipped back.

Or punt on the turbos and mod for goodies like plenum, exhaust, or a tune?

If you do upgrade turbos, other things are a must - injectors, exhaust, custom tune. Otherwise it doesn't make sense to upgrade them.

Btw, doing the turbos is an engine out operation, you know it, right?

Sure thing on the engine drop. and thought if they need it.....going to just get it out of the way and anything else while in there.....

I think upgrading turbos sounds like a waste for my use case. I should just do an inspection on the oil and look from there too.

Make sure to do the engine mounts while you have it out!

OK... Redid all fluids, diffs, oil, and ATF.

It looks like transmission seal is going. And power steering leaking. One engine mount is busted. And turbos leaking oil.

So if they need to drop the engine off the sub frame, send the turbos off while we are at it.

It should take a week and I'll think I'll try to get pictures...

All gaskets, seals, mounts, and turbos should be buttoned up..

Anything else you can think of while it's down?

Not sure why you would include head gaskets if you arent having an issue. Its likely you will do more harm than good by interuppting a good seal. The 955 has reaaly good head bolt setup, they are 12mm and reach way down into the bottom 1/3rd of the cylinder. If your gonna have the heads off you might as well replace all the lifters @ min 25 ea x 32. Used lifters need to go back in the same position removed from or you will acclerate wear on your cams and cam housings.

The IHI has a really crappy turbine housing and id be suprised if yours weren't cracked already. If they arent they will be soon. You can get new turbos for around 900 ea.

Replace the coolant tees with metal ones from jagsthatrun.

I'm sorry .. the rubber gaskets, not head gaskets... Be a world of pain and tooling going that deep.

valve cover gaskets? make sure you do the 2 spark plug well gaskets and the 2 variocam solenoid gaskets at the same time.

Yes, there is definitely map/injector capacity for more air.
