Default Villians Expedition build! Opinions wanted!

I'm looking to purchase a V6 Cayenne for a future expedition/overlanding build. I'm looking at a 200k mile 955 for $6k, and a 140k mile 957 for $8k. What would you choose and why?

955 because I'm fairly sure it still has center and rear diff.

The 957 dumps one or all of the diffs.

i have mine set up for camping/hunting/overland.... No spacers yet on the steel suspension. Would want to go for a leveling style than pure lift and 33s.

Hankook ATM tires closest to OEM spec...

I've put almost 200k miles on my 2006 base and the suspension looks great, just needed new wheel bearings on front at 160k miles...330 mm calipers and pads are super cheap.. Bed roll, tent, miscellaneous base stuff like the plug puller, jump box, and I can get across any pasture, hunting field, and fire road.

Would love a decent roof rack option and getting the 260hp ecu flash might make it about perfect.

And I have 2 sets of the 17s... Would love to integrate all or some of the extra wheels onto a trailer set up.

Hercules tire makes an aggressive mud terrain, that is one I have been looking at for this next set but unsure if it had enough sipes and hardness like the hankook.

I don't think the drive system changed to less off-road capable until the 958 generation in 2011. I'm pretty sure my 2009 turbo S has a Terrain Mode with the 3 differentials, though they'll likely never get used.

Newer and lower miles for $2K more? Seems like a no brainer regardless of the use...

He mentions the search for a base... Turbo S is going to have the Advanced Off Road package, transmission cooler, guards, and anti roll sway bars etc plus all diffs...

Not sure when AOT was cut off but it's not the standard case with most 957 and even 958s have way different drives depending on outliers like diesel and hybrid...

957 differences... Non turbo models

A manual gearbox serves as the standard transmission system on the base Cayenne, with all other models featuring an eight-speed Tiptronic as standard equipment. The low-range transfer case found in the previous generation has been removed. All vehicles will feature about 10% less weight than their predecessors

I did, but I ended up with a 955 TT instead.

Awesome! You should get the Coble Engineering lift plates! You can gain 2" in all air suspension settings and fit much bigger tires! Plus they are really cheap!

Anyone have a source for a mild lift on an 08 Base with the stock steel spring suspension? I'd love to run something close to 33's on it, but have had zero luck finding a way to lift the pig.

Club Touareg has details on 3.2 lifts.....buy them there from the engineer who made them or take specs to a local machine shop or good rep lift builders.
