Default CTT 04 vs 06

I'm looking for an early CTT. Ideally I wanted to find a nice 04, but so far one of the nicest cars I've found is an 06. It has the options I want, and looks to be in good shape. The thing is, because it's an 06, it's quite a bit more expensive, and I don't know if it's really worth it. The way I see it, they are the same car, and at this point it's mileage, condition, history that really matter. Who cares if it's 10 years vs 12 years old?

So my question is, how much more is an '06 worth to you over an '04, all other things being equal - and why? Thanks.

Probably worth $4,000 or so more - just because LOTS of stuff that was wrong with the 2004 Turbo was fixed by 2006. Unfortunately - not the coolant pipes though (or driveshaft..)

People asking this sort of question REALLY should read: https://rennlist.com/forums/porsche-...-question.html

It pretty much covers it.

That link doesn't contain any information at all. What was fixed on the 2006 model?

I have to disagree, I picked up an 04tt w/65k miles and other than the normal issues it was very good to me. Other than avoiding the 03, the real changes between 04-06 was mainly software, a valve body change, the addition of a screen filter in the oil circuit/non return valve going to the variocam, a stepper motor update on the transfer case, and an updated version of the pcm which still leaves much to be desired. Save your money, your going to need it for gas, tires, repairs, and depreciation. With that being said there are really nice 05's and 6's sub 15k which I consider to be a steal if you can wrench and troubleshoot.

If you have any links to cars like that for sale, please let me know. The one I'm looking at, they're asking over 18, but I don't think I would pay more than 15 tbh. But I know I could probably buy an 04 for 12-13 if I could find the right one. If I thought the 06 would save me a few grand in maintenance, then it would be worth it, but otherwise it's just throwing money away.

https://rennlist.com/forums/porsche-...bo-issues.html - for one. Not an issue on the 2006's. And all the items Mr Haney mentions weren't just done for fun by Porsche.. they were in response to problems with the 2004 and some 2005 Cayennes.

I just went thru this process a few months ago, ended up picking up an 06 Turbo with 55k miles. One thing worth mentioning, but may not be too big of a deal for you is...the pcm in the 06 has the telephone button and makes upgrading to blue tooth/hands free a little easier than the 04-05 models.

I'm be interested to know your thoughts on the value of an '06 with average miles. Of course I don't mean to be nosy and I'm not asking you to tell me what you paid, but if you have any opinion on how an 06 with lets say around 100K miles would compare to an otherwise similar '04, let me know.
