Default What are my options with TPMS replacement?

Getting an error on one of the tires that the TPMS system is not responding. Got quotes from a local tire shop of around $240 per wheel while the dealer is about $100 more. I would look to replace all at once since they're probably all going to be due soon.

Now I don't mind paying for complicated repairs and issues that are time consuming but to me these prices are a bit high considering that I can purchase the transmitters for around $80 each.

Has anyone figured out another option? Has there been any success buying the part and asking a tire installer to just replace what you brought to them? I really wish there was a DIY here. Also how do I know exactly which transmitters in there without taking it all apart first? This is on a 2011 Turbo with the 21 inch wheels.

Have your tire shop install these.

https://www.amazon.com/Dorman-974-30...&keywords=tpms

No special programming needed. Just install reset the tpms on the computer and drive a bit. They will sync up.

I just did this with a second set of wheels and they are great.

On my 2015 CD, my tire shop installed new snow tires and checked my existing transmitter (from 2009 model) and saw that they would work, supposedly. Well they did not and I ended up going to dealer to have new ones installed. Cost around $600.

I only use aftermarket tpms sensors on my wheels and they work just as good as the factory/dealer ones. You can go to Amazon or I buy mine from here http://www.titantpms.com/

That sounds great! Now to find a tire shop that will install parts I bring to them...

Which would you recommend, the Amazon or Titans?

I had one of my TPMS sensors replaced at Discount Tire for $65 out the door. They said they used a Beru sensor which is the maker of Porsche ones.

I think Amazon carries some of the same brands as the Titan TMPS website so go with either vendor you are comfy with. I take my sensors to my local Discount Tire and they are happy to install them. They don't charge extra when its part of a new tire install and the price is minimal when you are switching out a sensor.

I called them and it was double the cost so for one installed and tire rebalanced they wanted $130.

That's still half the cost of the other tire shop I went to so it's heading in the right direction

Yea, I was quite surprised that it cost so little at my Discount Tire. Maybe it is because I have bought tires from them before.

On my 05 I took off what I think are the factory rims and they didnt have a sensor in at all. I orddered new rims and tires and paid ~100$ apiece for new sensors but only later found out I previously did not have them installed.

I do not know if mine are working now at all come to think
