Would you buy used again?
Having 20/20 hindsight, would you buy a used CTT again? I am looking at 08 CTT's and see a wide range of miles on them, concerned about maintenance issues popping up causing it to spend too much time in the auto shop.
Any input is welcome.

I bought a used 2004 ctt, and likely buying another used ctt, this time a 2008.
I know I'll spend about 5k getting it sorted out and then another 2-3k per year fixing and maintaining. WAY less than the depreciation of a new/newer ctt.

I am not asking if you would buy new or not, just if those of you who did buy your CTT used, if you think it was worth it in the long run, or did it have a lot of maintenance/reliability issues that if you knew before you bought it you would reconsider buying...
Similar to a friend of mine who bought a used Land Rover Ranger Rover Sport Supercharged...he got it for what he thought was a good price and low miles, but has ended up spending almost as much as he bought it for in repairs. He loves it, when it is running.
Just curious if anyone has similar experiences with the CTT? While I understand unless it is a certified used CTT, chances are I will need to sink a few grand into making sure normal maintenance is up to date, I dont want to have to worry about things breaking and it being in the shop every other month because after 100k miles all sorts of things start going bad.

Ill let you know...I just bought a 2008 CTT and blew out a PDCC hydraulic line within the first 1000 miles. Its only a few hundred in parts to fix, but its down for a week waiting for them to get here. RRS supercharged was what I was originally looking for, but the CTT won my heart. Now i just hope it doesnt break my wallet.

I've only had mine a year.
05 CTT, 103k on in when I got it, 108k now.
Stuff I knew I was going to need:
Coolant Pipes & Ts
Hatch struts
Summer tires (all 4)
Cardan shaft (did 'Jimi Fix')
Stuff I didn't know I was going to need:
Starter (did it while doing pipes, extra labor was next to nothing)
2 snow tires (had a tread separate over the summer and had to replace the pair).
So far, so good.
No breakdowns or unscheduled downtime.
So, yes. I'd do it again.

I just bought another 2004 S. Pick it up tomorrow. Bought the first with 57k miles two years ago. Trading it in with 159k pretty painless miles (water pump bearing starting to make noise is all I have had to fix!) for another 2004 with 72k miles. Great cars.

I'd buy used again. Have had mine for about 9 months and 10k miles. Been a solid vehicle for me, I was caught out by the torque convertor seal right after I bought it. Other than that only normal maintenance besides replacing the coolant over flow tank.
Going to keep this one until the 2011+ CTT's depreciate into my price range.

Absolutely, especially a CPO car. Used or not, it's still has the finish and quality of a $100K+ car; a price I wouldn't dream of paying considering I drive under 5K miles/yr. My 06 was CPO, saving me roughly $5K in repairs over the two years it was covered. I've compared the depreciation on my 06 CTT to that of the new cars that were in its price range when I bought it in 2013 and they're generally comparable.

Sure - as long as I can get a warranty to cover the expensive stuff.
A $130k CTT is way out of my new price range. A 5 year old CTT for less then half that is doable. Even with an extensive warranty, it's not an inexpensive car to own. My wife's Lexus is much more reasonable, but the Lexus is no fun to drive.
I am willing to pay for maintenance on my '11 CTT - and DIY as much as possible. Having a 5 year/100k warranty on the CTT lets me sleep at night. Having web communities such as this one make owning one much more feasible.
Did the plugs yesterday. It's not a trivial exercise - but it was doable. I'll have to write up a few hints on things I learned while doing them.

Bought my 2009 GTS with 80k on it, one owner Dr. Only issue I have had is the rear wiper blade doesn't make full contact with the window. Oh and my wife drove it said there was a CEL. "did you forget to close the gas cap?" ...... YUP. She sits with 91k now. I've been told the 957 series is pretty bullet proof if you maintain it. I would buy another used one in a heart beat. Silly to buy new with the crazy depreciation. I spent about a 1/3 of what it was new $100+. Will probably let my wife have the GTS and get a C4S in a couple years.
