Default Starting Issue 2004 CTT 115K miles

2004- CTT, 115k miles

I have seen many posts about this issue and have experienced it in 2different 2004 CTT...

Get in vehicle, turn key, motor turns over, stops... Turn key to left allthe way, turn key to right, starts fine....

I have a single battery CTT , Interstate Battery is new and correct, have searched this forum andfound many similar posts, but no resoloution...

Approx oncce every 2 weeks, put key in igntion, turns over the 1st time, it's not slow or any sense of strain...Just stops turning over as if interupted ... Turn the key again, vroooooom...

Anyone know the real fix?

Thx,
Pup

Change the starter.

Does it crank "briskly" or kind of slow?

Mine cranked a bit slow from the day I bought it. It did the "short crank and stop" thing too.

PO had taken it to the dealer for this, dealer put in a new battery. No change.

When I did my coolant pipes, I did the starter too. It was an extra ten minutes (job books something like 9 hours, but I already had everything apart).

It hasn't done the "short crank and stop" since. Cranks very briskly too.

My 2003 CT had the same short crank and stop symptom appear once every couple of weeks.
Changed the starter 18 months ago, has not done it since.

AZ has a Duralast starter for ~$275. Comes with a lifetime warranty that includes the install labor.
Somehow I don't think they've had a warranty claim on this one yet.
