2008 Cayenne GTS LCD Display problems
Hi guys, newbie here. I recently acquired a 2008 Cayenne GTS which has covered a little over 50,000 miles and is an amazing vehicle. My first Porsche and definitely not my last! My only gripe is that the LCD display in the middle of the instrument cluster is now pretty much totally orange making it impossible to see. I don't think its a pixel problem but it's really annoying. Any ideas?

Thanks

Thanks for this, an interesting article but I'm not sure thats the same issue. The LCD is really bright rather than fading. Also, I disconnected the battery earth and reconnected which immediately resolved the problem for all of about 3 minutes. So the display works fine but only for a short time so is it the LCD or something else?

Remove the cluster and send it here . They charge $185 to fix it and it will be back in a week . Its not a big deal to remove the cluster .

I am having the same issue on my 08 GTS. Happened once before and came back on its own, but now it seems to be stuck in that bright mode (nothing is legible on mine). Ever find a solution? Is replacing the LCD the answer?

That LCD screen is just garbage. I replaced my entire cluster with a Turbo cluster from a 2008. I'll trade a non functioning boost gauge for a much cleaner look and no stupid orange LCD.

There are services like the one John Rose noted that will repair the display. they usually have a quick turnaround and do good work.
The dealers will try to sell you a new display for big $$$.. but...
If you are up for a DIY project (or a cheap SOB like me), and want save $100 or so...
Buy this or similar from another vendor:

Remove instrument cluster:
Replace LCD panel:
These are sources and videos i found, there are other options if you wish to look around.
I have the LCD panel, hope to do the install this weekend, so at this point I can't provide any first hand advice/experience other than the above.

So I ordered the replacement screen and plan to install it asap. But during the course of this research, I’m a little concerned - replacing the entire cluster doesn’t reflect the vehicle’s true mileage - it uses the clusters miles?? When I take my cluster off, how can I confirm it is the original?

I'm nearly certain that the mileage is in the car's central electronics, rather than in the cluster.

Is the 955 turbo cluster the same as the 957 turbo cluster. Very interested in doing this. As I read through threads, it appears the two issues are no Amp-meter and Odometer is incorrect. Has anyone found anything with Durametric?
