Default High Mileage Turbos? Share your experience...

Who's got 100k+ miles on their Cayenne Turbo? Can you share your experience? Major "watch outs" if buying one?

I know I may not be much of a help, but I did just purchase one with some decent mileage on it, 150K.

I looked a number of 80-110K mile trucks in the same price range, but a lot of them didn't have much in the way of records, original wheels, things like quality tires, taken care of interiors, metal coolant pipes etc so I ended up just buying the best condition Cayenne I could find, regardless of miles.

My records indicate the PO changed the oil every 5K, changed the fuel pumps at 137K, the PCV diaphragm at 144K, coils were done at 110K, coolant pipes at 80K (leaving plenty of time other issues to manifest themselves if they were going to by 150K), and the cardan shaft looks pretty fresh.

Within 3K miles of meeting NY roads (it was a SC car until I brought it up here) I had to replace the left front air spring. Besides that, it seems to be pretty solid(knock on wood uhall) ..though I've only put 10K on in the last 2 months, so YMMV.

Owned my 05 Ctt since 100,000 kms to now 205,000 kms. Never been soo happy driving it. Always owned specialty cars Sti, type r , s2000, m3, m5,amg. Family members have brand new ml63, rover sports etc. Always choose/ prefer driving the Cayenne.
Since 100,000 there has been a LOT of parts.
Coolant pipes, coolant t's, starter, transmission TC seal,belt, waterpump,pads/rotors,brake flexlines, two drivetrain services,driversideheadlamp asm,front rear upper/lower control arms, air suspensions compressor,two purge valves,pcv diaphragm,spark plugs,ignition coils, two fuel pumps,cardan shaft,rf wheel bearing,rf axle shaft,parking brakes shoes and hardware, parking brake pedal shock,trunk glass/hatch shocks,fuel tank saddle cover/straps : left right, tires , alignments,bulbs,rearwipermotor w/ arm,a/c recharge,two sets of horns,headlight mount, front window regulators,lf door latch asm.
-I'm sure there is more I have missed.
Performance upgrades I have done which I absolutely love.
Techart lowering module, braided coated brake flexlines, muffler delete, debadged, removed roof rails. Complete LED interior light,license plate LED,pioneer headunit speakers w/ apple carplay, speakers, amps, back-up camera,sat radio.

Watch for motor mounts. It's an engine pull to replace them. I Know, I have to do mine. I looked under there and there is NO way to do it without pulling the engine. Turbo rebuilds are on the to do list as well even though it's not leaking. Might as well while the engine is out.

Engine definitely does not need to come out for the mounts. You need to support the engine from the top and drop the subframe ever so slightly.

Never mind - you're right. Checked POSES and it's an engine drop for the mounts on a Turbo.

That's good to hear. At 170K mine are showing signs they should be replaced. I don't have the equipment to drop it myself, do not want to pay the dealership labor rates, and do not trust the indy to put it back together right the first time.

If it's a matter of supporting the engine with a cherry picker and dropping the sub frame, that sounds like nothing more than a decent weekend project.

If I had to drop my engine — I would save my duckets up so I could do a bunch of stuff at once... including any mods.

Great thread...I bought mine with 100K now 3 yrs later up to 130K just stated replacing things here and there ,but she's been pretty solid my wife drives her more then I do now. Not by choice but we love it.

Ya. On the 'S' you just lower the subframe. Those pesky turbos and related plumbing cause all sorts of problems. Lol.

Default Cayenne turbo 205k+

I have had 2005 cayenne turbo since new. Have 205k on it. Been procrastinating on maintenance. Now facing 16k maintenance bill. Tough decision , biggest issue is suspension.

Default Cayenne turbo 205k+

Have had it since new. Been a rocky road but still love it. Now I face a 16k maintenance. What to do.
