Default Real Time Help: Pano Roof will not close fully

It was opening and closing fine yesterday. Now, when I try to close the last panel (over the driver) stops about half way and will not close. I tried the "re-sync" by pushing the button and it still doesn't close. It will open all the way up and everything works fine until I try to close and the last panel just stops half way. Can anyone help me to get it closed?

Anyone? Is there a manual way to close it?

I tried to close with the tool. Everything moves but when the first panel gets about halfway closed it stops. Do I have any other options?

Really need help... anyone! The dealer can't get me in til for two weeks! I just need to get it closed as rain is coming! What I found out is the right side will not move. Something is going on in there.

Can anyone atleast tell me how to take it apart to get it to close?

Can you use your hands to pull and guide to keep straight while the manual crank is being used?

Tried that. Was afraid if it was pulled any harder something was going to break.

Has anyone taken off their panels themselves? I only need to take off the first one over the driver's head.

I am no Pano roof expert but I suspect some of the mechanization is similar to a sunroof. Based on your description, I would suspect that air deflector assembly is jammed or stuck. When the panel slides forward, the panel presses against part of the deflector assembly to stow the deflector. There is a deflector dis-assembly guide on http://www.alldatadiy.com. Drop a few dollars and it will have the rest of the Pano Roof info. Here is a link that might help in a pinch. http://workshop-manuals.com/porsche/...of/page_10398/

Removing a glass panel is not possible in the 2011 without removing the entire assembly and there are a lot of bolts associated with that...per AllData.

I'll try and fool with the wind deflector for a little while and see what happens. What bothers me is that it will open all the way with no problems. It will close with no problem until that last panel gets about 8 - 10 inches from fully closing. It will just stop. Thanks Cavu.

Update: No luck. I really believe you are right though, Cavu. I think it has something to do with the wind deflector.

Remove it using the instructions in the link or try holding the deflector down by hand and slowly and see if you can see what it is hanging on.

Yeah I tried holding it at different heights to no avail. I really think it is something simple.

I just repaired mine, it usually happens when someone forcefully jams the sunblock back into / under the sunroof's ridge which pushes it off rail, so hence the sunblocker, blocks the sunroof from closing all the way, this mechanism prevents the motor from breaking,.

My fix was timing the opening and getting right in there to pull out the shade, please careful, I almost just broke my fingers, but it is a easy fix.
( closing and tilting will not work, you must time the few second between when it opens, and closes and keep repeating. )

The two possibilities are jammed sunblock or something jamming the tracks, like a twig or small rock from driving. I would first take a look at the sun blocker, if it isn't there, some idiot just jammed it all the way into the frame. Good luck 👍
