Sorry. You can't even put a different Porsche engine in let alone one from another manufacturer. At least not for less money than buying a new car. Your first enemy is the wiring harness.

Were you able to return the motor since it's just a giant paper weight? Sorry for all your pain. I honestly don't think more than a few percentage of CS engines scored but Porsche sold MANY units so there are enough in the wild to have to navigate around them. As I'm sure you know by now.. Avoid engines from cars that were driven in cold environments. Time for a sinkhole to swallow up the thing and get that insurance money lol.

Its not that common, but it is a common boogeyman on Porsche forums, much like 996 IMS failures. I suggest narrowing your search to engines still in wrecks.
1. Where do you live?
2. How many miles on it when you bought it?

As said above, for the normally aspirated V8 avoid one from a cold climate. Dishonest sellers will pull there old engine and try to sell it without letting you know it had a problem. Turbos are not immune but much more rare for the problem. From a wrecker might be safer than an individual. I understand pre-purchase inspection might be difficult and ones that are just starting to have a problem, I've heard can't be seen with a borescope from above, it needs to be scoped from below.

From a cost benefit standpoint Mooses win out—the poor moose notwithstanding.

Go over to the firearms section & suggest a "sacrifice shoot", you might end up with enough money for a new CTT :-)
