Default Noisy cabin fan

Today when driving my wife's 08s the cabin air circulation fan in the dash started to make noise. It doesn't make noise at the highest speed settings. But four clicks down on the fan speed button and it starts to make the noise. In the bottom three positions it also does not make the noise. In the middle positions, where it makes the noise, the sound gets louder as the fan speed increases. So there's something wrong with the fan. I did a search and it looks to me like there are three "servo motors" for air circulation. Has anyone repaired a similar problem on a Cayenne? Does this sound like one of the fans needs to be replaced or just lubricated, or is this something totally different?

I've noticed the same on my TT, I haven't had a chance to investigate.

Very common. In the Porsche world it's one of the cheaper, and easier DIY's. The bearing for the fan goes bad, located behind the glove box. There are useful guides available, but it's incredibly simple.

Part is available from ECS Tuning. Genuine Porsche product is ~$260. A super cheap brand is $140. I picked the middle at $190

Blower Motor for A/C and Heater here. This DIY should help with the replacement. Let me know if you need further assistance.

Just a word of warning....the left hand drive fan units are different to right hand drive units. They are mirror reverse in every way...case, fan vanes, motor polarity. Yes, I know this from experience. May seem obvious now, but....
