I used a local Indy for the oil change on my 2012 CTT, with me supplying the parts. The oil cost $50 (10 quarts of Mobile 1 0-40) from Amazon.com; the filter and gasket cost $12, also from Amazon. My tech (who comes to my house; great service!) charged me $70 for the labor (and he reset the oil service indicator light), so total was $132. Obviously, I could have done it myself, but it was worth it to pay my tech to deal with the oil, etc.

Last time I was at my dealer for something a customer came in with a 958 diesel and asked what this message on his display was that came on every time he got in the car and how to get rid of it. It was the OCI and he was at 26k without ever changing the oil. I kid you not he said "oh, I didn't know I needed to do that" to the SA.

That would be 5 missed OCIs and the Blackstone results I've seen suggest 8-10k is the useful life of M1 in the TDI.

Never underestimate stupid. It knows no bounds.

Porsche is sort of subtle with their reminders. on my 958 diesel, the 5k oil change notice pops up right when starting and is then hidden by seat belt warning if not belted. So you miss service indicator

On bmw it's a read symbol somewhere on the display...

Regarding the CD, the oil is that special elixir of the gods M1 ESP which is hard to find and local retail is $14/qt at pep boys. Online is a bit less, more expensive than M1 0-40w water oil. 14/qt + filter = 130 or so plus it's not worth my time for $70 in labor. I like working on my RS. Cayenne not so much.

If he had any type of warranty it just ended on that day! He reminds me of a guy on the Aston forum who was complaining about his engine knocking. A forum member asked him when was the last time he changed his oil and his response was "6 years ago". His reasoning for 6 years being fine was he was well under the 10k recommended change interval. lol

I once looked at an Audi A8 with 18k that was 10 years old but only had 1 oil change its entire life. Blows my mind how people will spend $80k-$100k on a car but will cheap out on the life blood of an engine... silliness

People who are OK with 10k+ oil changes have probably never seen what the inside of a car engine looks like that follows these recommendations. If they did, they wouldn't follow them.

I had a good local indie service shop do my 09 Cayenne GTS last year, along with a complete inspection. It cost me about $175

No, just make sure you save the receipt from the "indy shop" just in case a problem arises at the dealer.
