Interesting. Do all Cayenne trim levels take the same battery? Maybe we should just buy batteries from the Audi dealer then, or VW. just gotta verify the battery model.

Not sure if all Cayenne's take the same battery, mine is approximately 15.5 inches long referred to as H9 size. My original varta battery had VW Audi logo's stamped near the negative terminal. I'm happy to get a replacement OEM battery for close to same price as aftermarket.

My 2011 Cayenne S came from the factory with an H8 sized battery. The video, and other DIY posts have shown both H8 and H9 as replacements. I did not measure the length (only difference between H8 and H9) of the battery box when I prepared and posted a DIY battery box access for the 2011-2014 Cayenne but my suspicion is the box size could accommodate an H9.

Thanks for the info. Still kicking myself for not measuring the box too while I was in there. I'll go the route of the VW dealer Varta when it is time.

Just checked on pelican parts.com: at least 2008 Toureg and 2008 Cayenne V6 share the same battery (same part numbers show upon searching). Good to know!

so the Bosch H8 battery lasted almost a year.....bought a advanced auto H8....something gold can't remember brand...it's almost dead at a little over 6 months.
Maybe I should get a H9

Even the cheapest battery should last several years. You either have a current draw issue or a charging issue.

I was thinking a combo of very short drives(2-3 miles at a time)....car sits.....and the single digit temp with the car sitting outside didn't help...could have been crappy battery also.
The Bosch made it back to store under warranty and they said bad cell....so not sure

If your battery is less than 5 years old and if you drive your truck or car at least 6000 miles a year Porsche will replace the battery for free under warranty. I had two batteries replaced on my Cayman R. I thought the battery died on my Cayenne as well but it was really drained from sitting without a tender on it for 14 days when I was in France last year. The dealer was all set to replace it free of charge.
