2006 Cayenne - Running costs?
Hi
I'm just about to get a Cayenne (will be my first Porsche and first 4x4, so I tick every newbie box).
Although I've made up my mind... I'd like to know anyone's experiences on how much running costs are in terms of wear-and-tear and repairs.
I can figure out fuel obviously. And I know the tax/insurance.
But does anyone have any bets on how much of my cash I'll be passing to a garage every year?

Three Wheelin'
This will depend heavily on A) which cayenne you're getting (motor, air suspension or not, etc), and B) whether you DIY most maintenance or take it to the dealer. You'll also need to tell us what mileage you're looking at.
In general
Tires last 25-30K miles. Same with brakes.
Control arms about 80-120K miles, cost 800 for the arms, hardware, and an alignment
Cardan shaft about 60-100K miles. 3-400 rebuilt, or 1200 new.
Hatch struts about 6 years and cost about 180 for all 4 of them.
Oil changes every 5-7K, price depends on fluid type, but it takes 9-10 quarts
Tranny fluid change every 60K miles - 180 bucks
Valve body in the tranny is $800, but it seems the 06 years don't fail as much.
Engine torque arm lasts 50-80K miles, and it's about a hundred bucks.
If you've done the cardan shaft, control arms, brakes are good, tires are good, and you're at about 100K miles or more, then it's pretty easy going after that. The turbo and V8 motor don't require much, though the NA V8 has scoring issues in cold climates. But, aside from that, you don't often see motor problems with the V8 (TT or NA). Air suspension is pretty solid. Interior has a ton of flap motors for the HVAC system that can go bad, but they're not expensive.
I don't anticipate much work on my 04 CTT going forward (I'm at 110K miles). I would say over the next 5 years, I bet I average less than $500/yr in parts (excludes brakes, tires, and fluids). With other german cars I've owned, I would figure a higher number.
If you use dealers or indy shops - then it's hard to put a number on your running costs, but it won't be cheap.

Drifting
Brakes are a yearly thing. $900/shop or $400/DIY. If the Cardan Shaft goes on you....expect a $750 bearing change job or end it forever with Vertex $400 one-time fix. Oil/filter can be done DIY, for under $100, but the oil reset will be a challenge.
Fuel will by far be your biggest expense.

How many miles?
This year I had to do:
-Brake pads (ceramic) and sensors all around + rear rotors ($1,300)
-100k mile service, plugs/coils, torque damper bar + 4 hours labor to fix stripped threads caused by over-torqued bolts done @ dealer under previous owner ($1500)
Work was done at a great indy P-car shop in Durham, NC (Digital Chassis). I'd say expect to spend $2k-$3k per year depending on how many miles on vehicle. Of course if you can DIY that will save alot.
