Default Best place for mic

I have an 04 S and going to install an aftermarket stereo. Where would be the best place to install a mic? If I had a factory mic, where would of that been located?

Factory mic in factory location, but aftermarket usually works best on the right of the sun visor.

Thanks.

Where is the factory location?

When you say right of the sun visor, are you talking in between the liner and center console with the overhead lights, sunroof, etc?

I installed mine in the overhead console/sunroof control for my Mobridge. Everyone say's phonecalls sound crisp and clear but that probably depends on the Mic a lot.

Where exactly in that center console?

Best place is clipped on the headliner edge against the front windshield, between the sun visors. Easy to route the wire to this location - just wedge it under the headliner edge without having to remove the headliner - just pop off the A-pillar cover.

This way you don't get wind noise if the driver's side window is down.

I mounted it behind the false vent looking slats in the back of the overhead sunroof console, the false vent closest to the driver.

That's what I was wondering. How's the quality mounted there?

I've asked while making phone calls when I first installed and everyone said it sounded good. My mic is the one that came with the Mobridge. Obviously installation and mic quality are equally important.

Anyone tapped into the factory mics for a Mobridge install? I have the factory mics and would like to use them if possible. I have heard that they may not be compatible.

Thoughts?

Cheers,
TomF

Which false vent? The one beside the light switches or the sunroof dial?
