Engine torque damper 955-375-101-13-M100...anyone using the Hamburg Technic part?
For my '05 CS, I'm tempted to buy the Hamburg Technic version of this part because it's half the price of OE.
Anyone installed it? Comments?

I have very mild vibration when accelerating from low speeds and even milder vibration during launch.
I haven't inspected the damper on the end concealed by engine covers...doing that this weekend.
Since cardan shaft was replaced within last 20k miles, RL searches seem to indicate either coils or engine torque damper are likely suspects.
The Porsche part went up in price from $158 at Pelican on Tuesday to over $200 on Thursday! (exchange rate flux?)

I've heard the Hamburg Technic are just as good as OEM if not the OEM manufacturer. The rubber bushings in these Torque mounts start to deteriorate after about 6~8yrs and 60K+ miles.

Hamburg Technic are NOT a German company, it's Chinese that has been making knock offs and passing them off cheaper. A few of the 928 guys messed with their water pumps and they were complete crap.

http://www.hamburgtechnic.com/ Looks German to me. Although that doesn't preclude them from manufacturing some or all of their parts in China. I bought a new HVAC fan a while back as a spare since they seem to fail, it was a Bilstein/Febi unit and I thought German. When I got it the stamp on it said Made in China and it was cheaply made with a wire protruding that actually touched the fan as it spun around. I returned it right away. Sometimes you never know until you get the part.

And this is why I strictly do OEM parts. I've tried a lot of different companies on different german cars, and rarely is aftermarket better than OEM. It's one thing to buy a part from the OEM company directly, but I don't bother with non-supplier companies anymore to save a few bucks. When you look at the long-term costs of owning a cayenne, the difference you save in aftermarket parts is quite negligible. I know it feels good, but that's about it.

Thanks for all comments - very helpful. I'll get the OEM part for sure...can't risk getting a sh**ty knock off and wasting time dealing with returns, etc.

Well, this is one of those parts that I wouldn't intentionally buy a part from China but I might go aftermarket as the OEM part doesn't last long, and it is just and aluminum piece with two rubber bushings so it isn't Rocket science and I doubt many of the aftermarket parts are going to be any crappier than the OEM piece.

It seems some people buy these premium Porsche cars because they want the best, and expect to run them on a Toyota budget.
So the search begins for cheaper and inferior replacement parts, fluids, oils etc by third parties.
