Looking at two Tiptronic 2008 GTS's:

1. GTS Red/Black One: 62k miles, $35k, CPO, 1 owner, Clean CarFax

2. Crystal Silver/Black One: 36k miles, $35k, no CPO, 2 owner, Minor Incident on CarFax (I could not see any trace of damage in person)

I really like the Red one, but the mileage difference of 25k miles (almost 2 years worth of driving) is pretty significant. I don't truly care about the minor CarFax incident on the Silver one as this is not a collector type car for me.

I am a DIY'er, so unless it is something electronic, any mechanical issue I can normally tackle.

What are opinions?

Get the one with the color and options you like best. I'd use the higher miles on the red one to negotiate a better price.

+1 - make sure you get the CPO with the red one, make the dealer do a PPI and get everything fixed that may need it prior to taking possession. After, you can make sure any items that crop up will be addressed via CPO.

Also, do either have options over the other (i.e. PDCC/Pano Roof/Nav, etc.) that you prefer or do both have the same option packages?

Yeah, but those seem really hard to find. Of the 10 or so I have looked at, none have full leather.

Get the red one, make sure the CPO transfers and have everything fixed that needs fixing free of charge. The Carfax problem will always be there for the other silver car and you will see it in the resale value as you will with cars with trailer hitches because they are very expensive to install afterwards.

Mine had the full leather and all those options for $32k with 71k on it, with clean CarFax and it was a one owner FL car. Make them a form offer on the Red one, but at a lower price, and explain why.
