I love the AIR/PASM on my GTS. I go from some silky smooth CA highways to some really rough city roads, and I love the flexiblity of altering the settings according to road surface, speed, and driving style. For me, this flexibility on all types of roads is the point of a Cayenne. Add PDCC into the mix, and this vehicle is unmatched. For those mentioning "complexity", well neither of my Cayennes equipped as such have had any issues after years of ownership.
Plus when it lowers down into loading level when I park, it just looks too darn cool. Just sayin. |
Nice GTS

I have a set of HRE mono bloc wheels left over from the RS6. I assume that there's no chance they'll fit the Cayenne… right?

Sell it and buy another with air suspension, best thing you can do

I've been having an absolute blast with this car! While it does not hold a candle to the RS6 in cornering, its just what I was looking for. I'm pretty excited. Maybe in a couple years ill upgrade to a GTS or TT with air/etc…, but for now I'm going to enjoy what I have.

Not to belabor an old thread, but I have a contrary opinion on my 2011 Cayenne Turbo. I wish that I'd NOT gotten the air suspension. It is simply weak. In comfort, yes, you don't feel any bumps but it rides around like a boat. In normal, it's still too bouncy and is not planted properly on the road. If you dump down into sport, it rides like a bouncy rock....planted and very tight but still top heavy (perhaps it's the car). On top of the terrible tiptronic transmission that is VERY notchy, I'm very keen to trade in my car for a non-PASM effort soon. I've always been a 911 guy (and still am), but this Cayenne has certainly dampened my Porsche love.

Odd. My experience with the air suspension is just the opposite. I find it well planted and not at all bouncy. I mean not one unwanted rebound.
The Cayenne isn't a 911, that's for sure, but I'm amazed at how well it does handle given its size compared to the 911's. I find the performance of the Cayenne to be surprisingly good and frankly amazing where I expect that from the 911's. |
