Cayenne Turbo 03 -06' (955) known issues..
Im looking into getting a Cayenne Turbo (955) 03 - 06' as my daily driver. I understand that the later models are the better to an extent.
I do all my wrenching myself and I do have all the tools, including Durametric.
Having done the obligatory searching and reserach I will now try to gather the known issues in one thread....
Ive found the following so far which seems to be an issue on all of these cars:
-Coolant Pipes
-Propshaft Bearing
-Coils
What other major issues do i need to look out for on these models?
Any input appreciated.

As a result of 1, Alternator and transmission valve body damage. i.e. get one where these were preemptively changed.
Noisy transfer cases (front)
Horns
Make sure all the electronics work. Bose amps, PCM, Steering wheel controls on the CAN bus. Although not earth shattering these can be buggers to fix

Been reading up on the Coolant pipe issue in the A-Z thread.
Is there any way I can see if this mod has been done, without disecting the engine?

I think there is a way to see in there from the rear of the engine by removing some of the plastic and the use of a mirror and light. It is here somewhere. I will have a look about. Best way to know is if the previous owner has receipts for the coolant pipes being replaced.

A common problem is harsh down shifts most commonly from 5th to 4th. It had to do with a sticking valve body silenoid. I believe the 03-04 are most susceptible. AC blower motor and/or blower regulator are fairly common. Also there are a fair few with clogged roof/sunroof drains that allows water in the cabin. A small percentage of non turbo v8's have engine scoring issues. This is a non issue on turbo engines.
