Default 2008 CTT vs 2006 CTTS

Hi all -

I am looking to buy my first new to me Cayenne and I have narrowed it down to either a 2008 CTT (45K miles) or a 2006 CTTS (23K miles). From was I've researched thus far - the 2006 CTTS has 520hp vs the 2008 CTT 500hp. My understanding is that the 2008 is pretty much the same style as the 2006. I really like the 2006 since it's the color I want (White/Beige). The 2008 is Silver/Black which is not a bad color combo either. I'm leaning towards the CTTS for the low miles and color combo. It also has the CPO warranty. Both are priced the same. Any recommendation or suggestion. Thank you.

You need to be more specific about options and cost between these… also if CPO comes with one or the other. There were some very attractive mechanical and electronic enhancements made to the ’08 and newer models… 06 and earlier have plastic water pipes that will fail and need upgrade at some point. They also had coils that need maintenance replacements. The ’08 underwent several reliability improvements, and a better PCM unit. Perhaps one is the best changes on the 08 was availability of PDCC – you should drive a car with & w/o, there is a significant handling advantage with it. That said, if the low mileage CTTS suits your color preference; and if all things (cost and options) are equal, then I’d go for it… it’s a fantastic car. The CTTS will have better breaks – but the maintenance on them is more too. If you're new to Porsche and Cayenne's then study the options that were available... almost every car is different because of its options. Thermal glass, F&R air, satellite radio, interior and exterior trim, wheel arches, wood vs composits, you name it. Items most manufactures install as "standard" are not in Porsche. But that's what makes them so great.

'06 CTTS w/ 23k miles?!

The most dominant car on the road. 65 to 100 in 3 seconds with PSM off. Pass anything, anywhere, anytime.

The 54k miles that I've put on mine have been fantastic so I vote CTTS.

My options here in the UAE when I purchased my latest 957 CTT for similar mileage and similarly spec'd cars were:

2006 CTTS $31,300
2009 CTT with PDCC $42,200
2010 CTTS $53,100

Having owned at the same time a 09 and a 05 CTT my impressions of running cost for the 957s is much lower than the 955s and the 957s just feel like a better car all round and the PDCC makes a big improvement to the handling. I was prepared to pay the $9,000 premium for a car which was 3 years newer and I can buy the additional torque which the 955 CTTS offers for around $1500.

The 957 CTT inherited the 380 mm brakes from the 955 CTTS so brakes are the same (I'll qualify that, they are on the 09). At the end the end of the day it's each to his own.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. Another thing that got me still confused even after talking to the Porsche dealership is the available CPO warranty on a 2006 CTTS. Is that even possible? I thought CPO can only exist during the first 6 years of the car's life. Can anyone elaborate on this? Thanks.

They may mean a third party since 6 years / 100k is a normal CPO

That's the thing... I asked the sales guy at the Porsche dealership several time to confirm it and he said Yes, it's a Porsche CPO warranty for 2yrs 50K miles. I'm really confused now.

Actually - I just found my answer. It looks like the sales guy is correct.

I'm interested in this one from South Shore Porsche in New York.

They're asking almost $49K for it but it has the 2yr 50K miles CPO warranty. The original sticker price on this car was $125K. What do you think? Good deal?

The other one I'm looking at is a 2008 CTT Silver/Black with 45K miles. It does not have the CPO warranty but it's a single owner car. The original sticker price on this car was $106K. Both are great cars but the white 2006 CTTS is just downright sexy. This one comes with the PDCC option.
