Default Unable to remove headlamps

My headlight bulb blew this morning.

I understand how the headlamp should remove - same principle as my 996 turbo. I remove the plastic cover in the engine bay, and I can see what looks like a white plastic allen bolt. I turn it the correct way, but it doesn't feel like anything releases and the headlamp cannot be removed no matter how many turns I make.

I briefly tried the other side and that doesn't seem to release either.

Am I doing something wrong? It almost feels like I'm turning the wrong thing - on the turbo you can only turn it so far because then the lock bar is in place. But the bolt I'm turning doesn't do that. I can't see anything else that could be the headlamp release though!

Car is 2003 4.5S

The one I saw on the '05 CTT, looks like a metal shaft that the head light "female" socket tool fits over it.
Sounds like ur turning an adjuster.

Thanks. Hmm - wonder what I've adjusted........

My toolkit doesn't seem to have the original tool - I'll see if I can work out what I should be turning, and try to find something to fit. It not, it will be a trip to the mechanic I guess

You need the tool to remove the headlight. I'm surprised that it's not in the kit. The little bolt to remove the headlight is under the plastic cover, but it's far enough down in the hole that you need the tool to reach it.

A small socket w/extension may work.

Done now. Thanks for the suggestions.

It will be dark in an hour - I'll try to get my headlight aiming in the right direction again then.... (now I've had the headlight out, I can see what I was turning, and it is an adjuster).

Yup, a 10mm socket is the same size as the trunk tool, and much sturdier. I broke the Porsche stupid piece of junk tool the first time I tried to use it.

It is a 6mm.
On the '05 CTT I just had the left side HID Low "dip" beam start to not come on in the mornings then it works sometimes then not.
Reading here that this can be caused by a loose connection I proceeded to remove the Headlight Assembly, didn't know the entire unit slides right out and there are no connections to undo which is great as it's 27 degrees here today

Took it inside and cleaned it up on the bench, well no luck after cleaning I did notice the bulb had a white spot on the glass about 1/2 way (burned out?).

Looks like I'll need to buy a pair of HID's, are these the correct bulb type I need? D1R/S35W

Also when you put the Head Light assembly back in, I noticed I really had to put some pressure on the 1/4" drive to get it to "click" and lock back in. Having never done this before I was afraid of snapping something off.

Thanks,
Dave

Mine had the white spot as well. Normal wear and tear. I got two of these. D1S Philips HID Bulb 85415C1.
They work great and are the same 4300 colour. Paid $49.00 each

Don't forget that the left and right sides need to be turned in opposite directions (clockwise vs counterclockwise) as per the sumbol markings near the opening to lock! and unlock

That's good to note, thank you!
I ordered two HID bulbs, and today at lunch noticed it was working again
Will see if it works on my way home tonight out of the city. Really hoping its the bulb now.
