Default General Grabber UHP - Any good?

Hi all

I am considering new tyres at the moment, for factory 20" Cayenne Sport Design wheels in 275 40 size, anyone here have first hand experience with General Grabber UHP? Ive read that they are pretty good but not sure on a CTT?

I was also considering the new Michelin Latitude but they are nearly twice the price and i wanted something that would offer a bit of snow / winter grip. Had considered Vredestein Wintrac 4 but again not sure how a winter tyre will perform in the summer, despite its excellent dry weather review scores?

Any advice welcome, tyres suggested need to be available in the UK / Europe though.

Thanks

Carl

I don't think Generals are considered all that great over here in the states. They're more likely to be found on pickup trucks and cumbersome American SUV's, not performance SUV's like the Pepper. We've had many tire threads on here already, 2 popular tires here are the Conti Extreme DWS and the Yokohama Parada Spec X's. Look at the reviews on Tirerack.com to get other ideas.

The Grabbers are pretty good as an off-road tire. One of my customers had them on a 2005 CTT that he used to go hunting in the woods. They were 18"s however.
If you're looking for more on-road use, I'd look for something else.

I've been running Generals for several years now. I had an APR tuned A4 with 19" OZ wheels, a 08 BMW 535 tuned as well with 19" wheels, and a tuned 135 also with 19" wheels...ran Generals on all three. My wife had an 07 Q7 that we also switched to Generals when the stock tires were done. I have loved them on all these cars, good in rain, no issues at all, and good tread wear too. I am most likely going to run them on my CTT as well in 255/50/19.

I've run a couple sets of General Grabbers on my Mercedes ML320 with good results. Great tread life, quiet and smooth on the highway, no surprises in the rain, and a tread pattern that looks like a proper truck tire. BTW, General is owned by Continental.

Nice to know we have another option. I'm at the wear bar on my Yoko's now.

I have them on my '05 CTT. They are surprisingly good tires. The only downside that they get a flat spot after sitting for a couple days. My house is 1/2 mile from the hwy and it vibrates for about 2 miles before it works itself round again.

I picked up a set of 21" GTS wheels with Yokohama Advan Sport fitted already so will swap to those for now. Not great tyres for the all season side of things but they were a bargain so i cant complain.

I'm on my 2nd set on my ML. They are pretty good. Both sets do have/had a slight vibration near 70mph.

I have oversized 30.7 vs 29" stock Yokohama ats and they are great. They did get a bit noisier after 25k miles. I can't decide whether to do the same with the cayenne and go truckier or keep it more street.
